    Apertin Mansion & Estate

by yvgr Written Apr 11, 2012

Apertin has roots in the early 1100's, when monks from Aberdeen, Scotland settled down here. They came to quite new Christened Värmland and built a church here, probably on top of an ancient sacrificial site where pagans sacrificed to the Norse gods. From Aberdeen, thus the name Apertin. After king Gustav Vasa access Apertin became Crown property, and only in 1630 began construction of the manor as it now stands. The mansion has been the site for both councilors and bishops.

Today the Mansion has parts open to the public and its sorrounding estate consists of both a hotel and conference center.
