Favorite thing: The Rådhustorget square in central of Umeå is the main place for street markets, speakers corner and just meeting people. The stairs with the speakers corner is called apberget (monkey mountain) and is always crowded with people on a sunny summer day.

Favorite thing: Every second year (odd years) the fair Stora Nolia is arranged in Umeå. This fair is the largets in the north of Sweden. During 9 days in August, about 125000 people visit Stora Nolia.

At Nolia you will find everything from big trucks, cars, food, clothes and new inventions. Each day it's also a lot of outdoor activities and shows, like this show with military guard dogs shown on the picture.

Favorite thing: During the summer months you will find City Musicians playing on the streets in the central of Umeå. And it's not people playing to get money like in some other towns, the City Musicians are in Umeå instead employed by the community to play for the tourists and the local people.
