If you come to Umeå in the spring or in summer-time (or in the autumn) I would recommend going by bike along the river in both directions from the central part of Umeå, but especially "up" the river, in the direction from the sea (towards the part of the city called "väst på stan"). On your way you will see lots of really beautiful nature, the river, some small farmer's houses, fields, forest and an interesting metall-bridge:-) After some kilometers you will come to a beautiful place called "Baggböle" where the river is often almost completely dry and one can see a strange view with lots of big stones where the river sometimes goes. At this place there is also a park with rare trees.
This is all really beautiful, I think! It takes some time so one idea is to take some food with you and make a picnic! I know that it is possible to rent bicycles in Umeå, though I haven't done it myself, but ask in the sport-stores, for example at "Intersport" (that is in central Umeå). Leave a Comment
