The easiest way of getting from the airport to Umeå city is by the airport bus, in Swedish called "Flygbuss". The bus leaves the airport about 15 minutes after each landing. The trip to Ume˚ city cost 35 SEK and takes about 20 minutes.
It's good to know that you on your "Flygbuss ticket" have free change to all local Ultra busses within two hours.

The main airport in the Stockholm area is of course Arlanda. But it's actually one airport much closer to the city, just some kilometers from the city center. The airport is called Bromma, and you can get here with busses from Stockholm Central station (20 minutes) or with taxi. From Bromma you can get to Umeå with the small airline Malmö aviation.
Malmö aviation normally have 5 daily trips in each direction between Bromma and Umeå, and it's most often you also can get cheaper tickets compared to flying with SAS from Arlanda.

The second bus station in Umeå is located just outside the main hospital - NUS. From here you can take many main bus lines but also most of the local lines within the city.
So if you are comming with a bus from another city and want to change to a local bus line it's better to stop here instead of the city bus terminal since you can change directly to the local busses.

A cheap and good way to travel to Umeå is by train or by bus. It takes some time, but it is a cheap alternative to flying. Overnight train from Stockholm or Gothenburg cost about 350 Swedish crowns one way. The bus from Stockholm is even cheaper, about 200 Swedish crowns.
