Favorite thing: In July we host one of the largest street festivals in Sweden. The Gatufesten festival attracts up to 100 000 people. An estimated 40% of the visitors are assumed to be tourists.
This is THE major event in Sundsvall and THE week to be here. Summer, fun and an never ending flow of activities and artists on stage.
Previous bands on stage features: Alanis Morisette, Pink, ZZ Top, The Cardigans. The 2005 festival takes place during the first week of July. (Monday and Tuesday are quiet but from Wednesday on it is 4 days of non stop party and fun).
Monday-Wednesday: Entrance free
Thursday-Saturday: About 600 SEK for a 3-day pass.
Where? In the centre! Main square and main street!

Favorite thing: Take a trip up to the "North City Mountain", a small village is located there who has an fantastic history, every timber cottage is orginal and it really takes you back 700 years in time. It's very cosy and there are also a very cosy café with homemade bread and cakes.
Be sure to visit this place when you visit Sundsvall.
The best accomondation is also located here, STF vandrarhem. Very cheap.

It's an great example how to conserve old houses and buildnings by just let it stand on the originally place and not move it!
