The Dublin: A great party place

The Dutch dudes party it up at the Dublin

This is a nightclub in town, with dancing, gambling, and karaoke. The music is usually pop, hip-hop, R&B, and dance music. Cover is 70 SEK, and the age to get in is 18. It's always a fun place to party even if it can get a little expensive.

This was one of our favorite places to go out in the weekends. The 3 Dutch boys in my exchange student group were known for always singing Waterloo at karaoke. But beware the bathrooms! They're often in subhuman conditions (bring your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer), and sometimes you have to wait in a huge line-up to use them. But even with that, a fun time is always had by all in the Dublin.

Dress Code: Most people wear trendy clothes.

    Oscar's

    The scene at Oscar's

This is a place for dancing. There is R&B, hip-hop, and dance music, and big TV screens showing MTV videos. The age to get in is 23 (ridiculous if you ask me...), but sometimes, they have nights where you only have to be 20. Also, you can say you forgot your ID if the bouncer asks for it. Cover is 60 SEK

Dress Code: People here wear the latest trends.

Copper & Co.: A smaller bar

Hanging out at Copper and Co.

This is a small bar in town, close to the main square (where the banks are). Pop and hip-hop music plays and you can dance, but there are also tables on the platform at the back of the room where you can sit down.

Dress Code: Anything goes - trendy or casual.

Oscar disco and nightlife in general: About the nightlife in Sundsvall

by tretjak Updated Apr 4, 2011

    Nightlife in Sundsvall

While in Sundsvall you may visit the club/disco called Oscar. Located in the centre near the fountain named Vängåvan.

This is the place with the most beautiful people but prices are rather high, for example a 6 cl. drink will cost a smaller fortune. 99 SEK, about 11 Euro.

Saturday is the most popular day. Closing time is 03.00. Every 2nd Friday Oscar organizes the +30 concept when DJs only play good old nostalgic music and u need to be at least 30 to get in.

Cover charge every night. Usually 60 SEK, about 7 Euro.

Sometimes too claustrophobic, especially at the end of the month when people just received their salary.

Music played on Saturdays are supposed to be trendy since noone ever heard any of the songs before, but people don´t care much since the consumption of alcohol is high...

    Other places:
Personally I like the place named Bishop´s Arms the best. Other personal favourites are:
    Harrys
    Svenssons Bar
    O´bar

    Overrated:
    Liquid
    Il Barone

Please note that "Kajplats" and "Coppers" (mentioned in other travellers reports from Sundsvall) have been closed during 2003/2004.

The best event/time of visiting Sundsvall is in the beginning of July when we host the festival named Gatufesten.

Kai Plats: Like partying in a ship...

    Hanging out at Kai Plats

The interior of this nightclub looks like a ship (quite fitting, since it's right by the water anyway...). They usually play pop and dance music. It's a little further away from the downtown area, but it's a fun place to party at.

Bishop's Arms: A bar in town

    by fairy_dust Updated Jun 13, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

You have to be 23 or older to get in, but one time, I was able to get in because they didn't card me. This place isn't for dancing, it's a place for sitting down, having a drink, and chatting. They do play music, but there is no dance floor. It can get crowded at time.

Dress Code: Anything goes, but most people dress casual.

    O'bar: O'bar

    by fairy_dust Written Oct 20, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

O'bar is a small bar next to Oscar's, and it's a place to sit down, chat with friends, and have a drink or two. It doesn't really seem to be a big party place. It's open during the day too. I didn't go at night, but I did go once during the day and I thought it was a nice place.

    Dress Code: Mostly casual.

    Melody: A luxurious party place

    by fairy_dust Written Feb 13, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Melody is a 2-story-high nightclub. It has 2 dance floors (1 upstairs and 1 downstairs), tables and sitting areas, and gambling (card games). This place looks very fancy, like a hotel. But cover is expensive (80 SEK), and it isn't open often.

Dress Code: Anything goes, but most people dress trendy.
