By the artificial lake in Hallstahammar called Skantzsjön there's a museum about the canal. It shows how the canal was built in the 18th century and how it was used before and now.Also there's a schoolmuseum and a nice café in the summer.The whole area is very quiet and the locals use it for walking and cykling especaially on sundays.more
This is located in an old wooden building just by the "Åsby plantgardens"."Åsby kött och vilt" has fresh meat and all kinds of sausages and alot of other local specialities. If you'e here you'll have to go canoing on the beautiful Strömsholm canal!You can rent canoes at the camping but call first!You can choose to paddle as long as you want because the canal/river/lake is 90 km's long! It goes from Strömsholm in Västmanland to Smedjebacken in Dalarna.It's really beautiful!more

Very nice exlusive food in explendid sorroundings by the river! The building is 200-years old or something and is kept oldstylish which gives a nice atmosphere.
Also you can eat buffe in the daytime for 65 SEK!
This a place to go to if you want to dance and get drunk, or not. Most of the locals will be drunk to very drunk but I havent seen any fights yet though.
Go there when there will be somebody's playing live because otherwise it's a risk it will be empty, and you can only go on the weekends, preferably saturdays.

The "Brukslinjen" goes from Virsbo to Kvicksund and is a free bus so you can go to see all the nice places in the area!
There's a nice 1,3 and 5 km runningtrack in the north parts of Hallstahammar. In winter there will also be tracks for skiing made with machine but there's not alwas snow. January and february are normally good for skiing.Here the locals run or walk in the forest in their freetime. There's also a marked 10 km path for running in the deep forest but...more
