    Kungsportsavenyn - Avenyn

Favorite thing: Goteborg's most famous street is probably Avenyn. The name is just a short form of Kungsportsavenyn. The wide Avenyn links Kungsportsbron bridge in the city centre with Gotaplatsen, where the Art Museum, the Concert Hall and a Poseidon statue can be found.

The street is not only a vibrant entertainment area with many pubs, cafes and restaurants, but also a busy shopping street.

The architecture along Avenyn is also well worth seeing as it is a mix of styles from the 17th century to the present day.

    Avenyn

Favorite thing: The mainstreet and the place to be in Goteborg is Avenyn, or more correctly: Kungsportsavenyn. There are mostly shops on this street such as H&M, Lindex, Wettergrens, Fotoquick, Guldfynd, Skivfyndet, Kicks and some maybe a bit posh stores. There's many bars, nightclubs and restaurants, for example Valand, Lilla London and Pir 31. If you prefer culture, there's the Lorensberg theatre, the Concert House and the Big Theatre. At the bottom of Avenyn is the Gotaplatsen with the Poseidon statue, an important symbol for the city.

Favorite thing: The Avenue, or 'Avenyn' is a lively boulevard that is bordered by trees, shops, restaurants, cinemas, museums and theatres, making it a favourite strolling area for residents and guests of the city. Amongst some sights you will find the Museum of Art, the Concert Hall, the City Library, and the Museum of Design and Crafts.
At the south end of the avenue is Götaplatsen, recognisable by the Poseidon Statue that was sculpted by the famous Swedish artist Carl Milles.

The Avenue connects two squares, Götaplatsen and Kungsportsplatsen. The buildings are unique in that they are divided into two sides by architectural differences. On one side, French architecture dominates, whilst on the other, examples of English architecture are the more dominant.
