    Port of Goteborg

by HORSCHECK Updated Jan 17, 2012

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: Goteborg is home to Scandinavia's biggest and most important port. Due to its location at the mouth of
the river Gota which ends in the Kattegat, it has access to both the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.

Besides many cargo ships it is also served by ferries from Frederikshavn (DK), Kiel (D), Kristiansand (N) and Newcastle (UK).

    The Harbour

    by Polly74 Written Sep 29, 2004

Favorite thing: The harbour is a vital artery for Göteborg and Sweden. These days though, there are also pleasant streets and attractive residential areas close to the water.

The fisherman's quay is the place for early birds! Fish auctions are held daily at 7 am, except Mondays. Visitors can't buy, but you can watch the auction in action.

    Fondest memory:

After Göteborg we went North on the road 45, then road 44 in Trollhåttan, direction Örebro, we found our first campingground in Hällekis, on the shore of Sweden's greatest lake Vänern.DUTCH:
