Goteborg has two airports: The international airport Landvetter and the much smaller City Airport. I flew with the German budget airline Germanwings to the City Airport. It is is located about 15 km north of the city centre. In 2006 this airport was only served by three airlines: Ryanair, Germanwings and Wizzair. Leave a Comment

Gothenburg has two airports which makes it possible to reach the city from quite many destinations. SAS, Ryanair, FlyMe, KLM, Allitalia, France Air and many more companies flies to and from the city. Landvetter is the bigger one of the two, being the second biggest airport in Sweden (although I got unsecure now... Maybe both Bromma and Arlanda in Stockholm are bigger?). From here goes both charter- and normal flights, with the possibility to reach the whole world. Normally with a change in Copenhagen or London though. The Landvetter airport is situated outside the city, 30 minutes by car or flight bus. Säve airport, also known as Göteborg city airport, is quite new, at least to most travellers. Ryanair have been flying from here for some years, with destinations like London, Frankfurt, Dublin, Glasgow, Madrid and Barcelona. This airport is much more central than Landvetter, taking half the time to reach from the city center. UPDATE MARCH 2007: The fligh company FlyMe Sweden has gone bankrupt, so no more flight with them will go to or from Sweden. There are hopes that another company will buy their planes and routes, but so far nothing is for sure except that they doesn't exist anymore, and all the travellers that had booked a trip with them has lost their money. by CliffClaven Gothenburg City Airport is developing fast as it attracts an increasing number of LCCs (lowcost carriers). Ryanair and Wizzair currently offer the most flights. The airport buses from Gothenburg Station are scheduled to coincide with arrivals and departures. Journey time is only 20 minutes, since – perhaps unusually for cheap airlines – the airport used by the LCCs is closer to the city centre than Landvetter, Gothenburg's older international airport served by SAS and other national carriers. by CliffClaven Ryanair, Europe's leading lowcost airline, made a profit of about half a billion dollars in the last financial year. Heavens knows how they managed it, since old Cliffie regularly flies for almost nothing. His flight from Germany to Sweden cost one cent, from Sweden to Scotland one krone, and from Scotland to Germany one penny. Okay, with taxes and fees the total cost was around 60 euros – but that was for three flights of about 1000 km each. Theme: Airplane

Gotheborg City Airport is 12km/7 miles NW of the city. The main way to get into town is the Flygbussarna bus that leaves 40 minutes after each plane lands, if the plane is delayed the bus waits. Just step out of the main exit and turn right for the bus stop. The ride is 50Kr about £3.50 and lasts about 30 minutes with no traffic. The bus drivers speak English. You will be dropped at the Nils Ericsson bus terminal next to the main railway station near the city center. They only have a couple of check-in desks and I only saw one departure gate. There is a tourist information office there staffed by English speaking guides, also a small restaurant and shop.

I even got to take a photo of my plane! ;) by polardabar, 5 more photos Göteborg Landvetter Airport is situated 25 km east of the city & the ride to Central Station / Nils Ericson Terminal costs 70 SEK / 7.5 EUR. If you're flying FlyMe, a one-way ticket from Stockholm Arlanda costs 295 SEK. They have all kinds of promotional flights all the time. SAS have student, youth & last-minute discounts & you can get tickets on machines at the airport. I got a one-way ticket from Göteborg to Stockholm for 300 SEK. It is a really good airport, rather small but cozy... There are machines where you can check in or by a last-minute ticket, but there's also stuff that can help you out. There's a small café & an internet point where you can get online. You have to pay 20 SEK for an hour, but keep your little paper, because you can use the unspent credit on other computers as well [I spent the rest of mine on Stockholm Centralen]! Göteborg City [GSE] is another airport where some companies like Ryanair fly to. There are flights to London Stansted,, Frankfurt Hahn & Glasgow Prestwick, but I haven't been there, so I can't give you much info, but here's a link. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

Ryanair... by A2002 There are two airports in Gothenburg. City Airport is the airport that serves only Ryanair. It is the smallest international airport I have ever been. It looks like a make shift container temporarily placed there. Let me describe how small it is... There are only two counters at the immigration. When we arrived, the queue at the immigration was long, so long that we had to queue outside the building.. brrrr.... very cold... There are only two check in counters too. If the queue is too long, wait outside the building in the cold again... Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

SAS Check-in, Gothenburg Landvetter airport by jacob_m The international airport of Gothenburg is called "Landvetter" and is located 25 km east of the city center. It's a medium sized airport with all necessary facilities such as left luggage service, currency exchange, and several shops in the transit area. There is both an International and a domestic part of the terminal, but there is only one check-in area. Some of the major European airlines operate at the airport such as Air France (Paris), KLM (Amsterdam), Austrian Airlines (Vienna), Finnair (Helsinki), SN Brussels (Brussels), Lufthansa (Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg) and the home carrier SAS (Stockholm, Copenhagen, London, Frankfurt). There are no Intercontinental flights out of Gothenburg but most major cities can be reached by transitting at one of the main European hubs. SAS (the main airline of Sweden) has a departure at least every two hours (sometimes hourly) to both Stockholm and Copenhagen where there are very good onward connections to most European cities and some Asian and US destinations. Buses to the city centre leave every 15-20 minutes from the aiport and pass the major streets of Gothenburg. The final stop is the main busterminal "Nils Ericssonterminalen" located next to the railway station. There is also a smaller airport called "Säve" (recently renamed to "Göteborg City airport", even though is in the middle of nowhere). Some low-fare airlines like Ryanair fly here. Goteborg City Airport view from the runaway by mauro_pd Going there by Ryanair is just the cheapest way; the low cost airport is "City Airport" which has grown exactly in the middle of nothing :-) Good connection with a BUS to Nils Ericson Terminal, which is the main Gborg bus station and located just beside the Main rail station. You can pay the bus also with CCard & cash Euro. The small bar inside the airport has incredibly delicious cakes (homemade of course). Theme: Airplane
