Atalante is a scene for a lot of things: contemporary dance, theatre, music, debates, clubs etc. It is not very big and a very relaxed place with a small café/bar. Quite often they also have club evenings etc. If you like contemporary culture and like to meet people in this field in Göteborgs, this is a good place.
Their homepage is only in Swedish but if you are interested in this place you can surely send them an e-mail and ask about what's going on there during your stay in Göteborg.

A pretty small place not far from J?rntorget. It's perfect for talking with friends. Pretty good selection of beers. Not that many, but just the right ones. Maybe not the place to go for a rowdy night out, but if you feel a bit mellow or want to talk, this is just the place. They keep the music in the backgrond and it's size don't allow for too many people.
My own teenage and early adulthood haunts are mainly around Linnégatan close to where I grew up. In and around this majestic street that runs from Järntorget square to Linnéplatsen and the beginning of the Slottsskogen park, you will find loads of bars and restaurants. Several of them are quite intellectual as the area is popular with theatre people and artists and even the few British-inspired pubs are less "rowdy" than elsewhere around town.

Decently casual.
Jarntorget region of Gothenburg is a wrong selection if you are looking for a very attractive Swedish nightlife. There are some nice bars in this region. But not so perfect in general.
There is an Iranian disco which is located very near to harbour. If you would like to meet with both Swedish and Asian type of ladies, why dont you make a try!

Everything works in Sweden. Swedish citizens are not paying attention to your dressing style too much.
If you like hanging out with old friends and getting new ones, the part of Göteborg called Linnéstan is the right place to be. Here you can find some of the best restaurants, bars and cafés in the city!
Bitter is one of my favorites. It's a good place to dine and a great place to have a drink, the bar is one of the top 5 in the city with out a doubt!
tel: 031-24 91 20
RumpanBar is also great and in the summer their terrace is a place to stay all night long!
tel: 031-77 59 300
Just have a walk on Linnégatan any night of the week, sit down in one of all the nice hang outs and you'll meet a lot of fantastic people.
