Casinos in modern times is a relatively new idea in Sweden and I haven't visited any of the ones opened in major cities but I wanted to let the VT crowd know that there is one in Göteborg should you be a fan of them. Based in an old riverside warehouse it has an interesting location.
Dress Code: Suitable...
A bit off the beaten path (but excellent if you stay in the Stigberget hostel), this pub and club has a relaxed atmosphere and a mix of people. Facing the river is a terrace with great views. The restaurant section inside has parts of its interior from the old Swedish America Line ships. Attached to it all is the relaxed Rippers pub with pool tables. Lots of gigs Fridays-Saturdays but closed Sundays.
Dress Code: Fairly relaxed as long as you are decent.
Unless you're wearing Ray Ban's at night, it never truly gets dark here in the summer, so a great remedy for dark-deprivation is drinking 5-10 cans of Pripps Blå with your best buddy on the beach.
Pripps is brewed in Göteborg, and because of it's fine, unique flavour, you've no need to actually enter the water should you wish a taste of the Swedish harbour.
Dress Code: Pants.
A bit of an alternative place.. but the setting is pretty neat. Underneath a big bridge completely on the edge of Göteborg in an old factory building.
You can see the big ferries sailing by if you stand outside.
Dress Code: It's alternative, so everything goes.
