    Nefertiti: All that jazz

An institution in the city's nightlight, "Nef" has jazz of all sorts so you have to read the billboards/local paper or ask if you loath a particular type. I have to say that there is generally a great atmosphere here and even if it wasn't my type of jazz one evening I have still enjoyed it as so many people come here. These days, there is as much soul and other styles as "pure" jazz so you definately need not be an Ellington fan.

    Dress Code: Jazzy :)

Probably the best place to watch the game. Apart from a big projector screen, every table has it's own LCD tv so you can choose the game you want even if it's not shown on the big screen. They also have a good hamburger plate for 99 SEK. A really good place to wind down and return to the human race if you are hung over. Slip in, order a hamburger plate and beer and watch a game of football.

If you want to sit down and eat during a game you might want to phone ahead to secure a table though. Otherwise you might have to sit at the bar. Not bad either mind you.

    Klara's kitchen and bar..from a far

This is a bar with some great food. There is a part of it, that's completely designated for the diners (I highly recommend the tomato soup). Klara's got an extensive list of beer even though some of the drinks are pretty disgusting. They've got different musical themes, depending on what day of the week you come. I seem to recall that Mondays are really good. If you get there early you might even get a seat! In the weekends it's rarely a line before 20.00, but after that expect a bit of waiting. Downsides? 15 kroner for wardrobe is a bit much. And while the discussion about the Iraq war was at its worst, they stopped selling peanuts because they didn't want to "support the USA" Ok...I'm sorry...but like America would actually give a flying crap about one little bar in Sweden stop selling two bags of peanuts a week. There are actions and then there's peeing in the ocean. Give me my damn peanuts!

Dress Code: Come as you are, baby. Come naked! If possible, come without a jacket and you'll save 15 kroner, heh.

This place is a hidden gem, around Fiske Kyrken, near to Domkyrkan (a pretty busy shopping area). If you can find this place you won't be disappointed. I have recently visted this place with some friends and as I always do I got asked for I-D, well this time I got let in!!! (Finally I am not too young (21) to get into a decent nightclub here). This place has an open bar area where people hot from dancing or that need to talk away from the noisy inside hang out. Beer costs about 39kr and the entrance is about 70kr. This is worth it though because from around 12pm a live jazz band plays, and I must say I was very impressed with the band that night. Afterwards a DJ begins with funky jazz tunes, hip hop and stuff, you'll probably never here any chart music here for sure!!! The dance floor gets pretty packed but its pretty funny watching Swedish people dancing, (an extremely 'unique' style that they have. The night for me here just flew away, and at about 3.30amwe went outside to a BBQ, even had veggie food. So, I was impressed with everything and shall definately return.

Dress Code: Wear whatever you like. Well it pretty seemed like that was what everyone else was doing. The more weird, the more you fit it. Very long line to the toilet......don't hold it for too long!!! Cloak room is free. Watch out for slimeball drunken guys on the pull, just elbow them...

Nefertiti. One of the best hangouts in Gothenburg. You'll find it if you hop off the tram at Grönsakstorget, then walk towards Rosenlund and ask someone. Rosenlund is a good place to walk by yourself if you are a girl at night, real good; If you want suggestions and questions how much you take for a hm hm and how much for a hump hump. Same for guys, also from men tho...

    Vasastaden & Grönsakstorget: Björns bar

    by Henrik_rrb Written Jul 8, 2007

Found this bar just last week, and it was a very nice experience. Got there late, but they still had time to serve us a couple rounds of beer, plus a plate of oyster to my dangerous friend Marcus. :)

For some reason he just loves them. Have to say it looked a bit strange to me, but he convinced me to try one. With lemon and some spice too.

Glad I had the beer next to me, or I would have thrown up... Not so much for the taste but for the feeling.

But the bar is very cosy, has two floors, with nice sofas where one can sit down, and some good foreign draft beers. Had the local Dortmund beer when I was there, nice memory from the World Cup in Germany.

Would be a bit unpolite though to not mention that Björns bar actually is a wine bar. So if you're looking for some wine tasting, this is the place for you. The food menu is short, but lists some very luxury meals.

The name of the bar, Björns bar", means "Bear's bar". Although Björn in swedish is also a name of a person (like Björn Borg) and not only the name of the animal. Would say it's named after a Björn, and not a bear...

Dress Code: No special dress code here.
It's close to the sports bar Score, so if you have seen a game there Björn's bar would be a nice place to take the next beer at!

    Monday-thursday it's open until 1am. Friday-Saturday it's open until 3am, and on Sunday it's closing time early, at 11.30pm.

by Rakete Written Aug 24, 2002

If you like rock, go to the Sticky Fingers. They play metal, grunge, dark wave, punk etc. and have concerts as well.
This is located next to the Grönsacktorget.
If you like jazz, visit the Nefertiti. On tuesday they have a jamsession which is worth visiting, not only because of the cheap entrance fee. This is usually the place with the hugest bunch of people in fron of the door, longing to get in.

Dress Code: Both of the places no special dress code.
In most of the other places you have to care about that!
