The Crown Fortlet (Skansen Kronan) is one of the three fortresses which were built during the 17th century to protect Goteborg. Nowadays it houses a military museum of uniforms and weapons. The Crown Fortlet is situated on a little but steep hill which is also an excellent viewpoint.
Directions:
The Crown Fortlet is located on top of the Skansberget in the Haga district. The nearest tram stop is "Hagakyrkan".

There are two fortlets in Gothenburg, protecting our proud citizens from the evil invaders (read: the danish):
Fortlet "The Crown" (picture)
This fortlet can be found in Haga, high on a hill overlooking the city.
The veiw from up there is exellent and the surroundings are very inviting as well, so it is well worth the pain of walking the many stairs up.
The perfect picnic-spot really.
Beside all that, the fortlet itself used to be a military museum, exibiting how the fortlet was used to defend us innocent souls from the evil bastards. Now it can be rented for special events such as weddings.
Fortlet "The Lion"
This fortlet can be found on the other side of town (duh...) a few hundred meters from the central train station. If you come into town by train you will see ít on your way in.
A good wiev, but if you want to settle for one fortlet, choose The Crown.
Close to the center is Skansen Kronan. The Tower of the Crown.
The tower is easy to spot as it's on top of a hill and on top of the tower, a large golden crown is placed.
The building is now a museum, and on top of the hill you have a nice view on Göteborg.
There are two defense towers in Gothenburg. One is called Skansen Lejonet and the other Skansen Kronan. the lion and the crown. One is to the east and the other is located not too far from Järntorget, or in the middle of Haga to be more accurate. Both are placed high up on hills and there is a wonderful view from them both, but especially from the Lion I think. The lion has a lion on top of it's roof and the crown...yeah you can figure it out. They have odd opening hours and I have actually /never/ been inside either of them, but it's not necessary...they are very nice from the outside too. (If you visit one of them, tell me if it's cool inside too ok?) This is the Lion shown here.
The fortlet was built during the 17th century for defens. Now it is housing a military museum with weapons from medieval to modern times and Swedish army uniforms.
