August Abrahamsson's home is a shining example of the interior design of the late 19th century. The castle holds handicraft and woodwork exhibitions, Midsummer celebrations and a Christmas market. The perfect setting for rambling, fishing and bathing.
Tours of the castle take place daily in the summer, and can be booked for groups during the rest of the year. The castle area offers youth hostel accommodation. Also an inn and handicraft shop.

Situated in Floda 30km north-east of Göteborg

Tjolöholm Castle dates back to the early 20th century and is located at Kungsbackafjorden.
The stunning countryside offers beautiful walking paths, bathing spots and a diverse bird life. The Carriage museum hosts one of Sweden's first electric vacuum cleaners. The Castle is open daily in the summer and on Sundays and public holidays most of the year. Café Storstugan is located in the workers village near the church.
Traditional midsummer celebration and a Christmas market are held every year.
Situated between 40 km south of Göteborg

The castle is open for tours all year round, daily in the summer and on Sundays and public holidays the rest of the year.

Gunnebo cafe and bar is situated in the servants' quarters and is open daily all year round.

Bohus Fortress

A very interesting place to explore during a couple of hours is the ruin of Bohus Fortress. It is situated on the west coast of Sweden, just north of Göteborg. The construction of the fortress began in 1308 by the Norwegian king Haakon V Magnusson, to defend the southern borders of Noray. Until 1658 the river Göta älv was the border between Norway, Sweden and Denmark. After a peace treaty in Roskilde 1658 Bohus Fortress came under Swedish territory.

Entrance fee is 20 kr.

To go there from Göteborg: Take a bus north to Kungälv.
