I am not sure how to describe this. On two separate occassions have I known two people whom money (cash) have been stolen from them while they are out in the city of Göteborg. I feel so sorry for them for having lost their money when they are traveling here.
One guy was sitting in a café in Haga with some friends and he put his wallet in his jacket, and because behind his chair was a half-way wall, he thought that it was safe to hang his jacket on his chair. But unfortunately, after he left the café, and while trying to pay for some purchases, he discovered that he has lost all of his cash!
Another one is a woman, whom have just exchanged her money to local currency at Forex in Nordstan, she sat down inside McDonalds to count her money and put them into separate envelopes, and then she put back the envelopes into her bag and started to take a walk around Brunnsparken, Östra Hamngatan and headed to an Asian groceries shop and when she wanted to pay for her purchase, she noticed that all of her cash is gone!
Both of these victims did not feel anything strange or peculiar happening to them nor around them.
So please, I urge all of you travelers and locals, be careful of your belongings, at all time!
Also, you can contact the police but I am not sure how much it would help apart from you´re giving them the statistic. But do anything to stop the pickpocketeers!

Pick pockets and especially during summer and in the huge shopping mall 'Östra Nordstan'. Gangs from all over Europe have picked up that Swedes are innocent and naive and now use this knowledge with great skill in there.

Sometimes in the peak tourist season you will see gamblers in the street. Although it looks like easy money, these people are con men and have 'audience workers' in the crowd to fool you into parting with your money.
Watch your wallet. Like any place handbags and wallets are stolen. Don't tempt theives, keep your money in a safe place. If you carry a rucksack, lock it with a small padlock, don't take any chances !

PickApocket in the summer.
If you are a girl, you should´nt walk alone in an area called 'Rosenlund'. You will attract a lot of men driving in their cars.

PickaPockets, like in all cities where people move in larger groups. At summer time that is. In the winter the risk to loose your wallet is almost as slim as seeing the sun.
