Rent a kayak
Maybe not the most quick way to get around, hahaha, but fun to give a try anyway! Rent a kayak at Orust camping! I haven't tried it because I ran out of time. But next I certainly will! Choose a nice and quiet day on the water though, so it will be easier to paddle. You can read more info about prices, etc on the website of orust kajak: http://www.orust-kajak.se/
There are so many islands in this area, and lots of them cannot be reached without taking the ferry. The answer to the question how much they cost is a bit more difficult though. Sometimes you have to pay for the ferry, sometimes they are for free. The ferry to Gullholmen (not a car ferry) for instance you have to pay around 40 kronor for a one way ticket.
But the car ferries I took to Malö och Flatön were for free.
Rent a bicycle
A great way to get around in this area is with the bike. I brought my own, but it is possible to rent a bike here at Stocken campground as well. Stocken, Gullholmen, Mollösund of Gällevikstrand are all within your reach.
If you are travelling on a budget this might be the perfect combination for you: take Ryanair flight to Göteborg, take the bus to Stocken, stay at the youthhostel in Stocken and rent a bike to get around.
And if you are not travelling on a budget: rent a bike as well! Just because it is fun :-))
Take the bus
A nice and easy way to travel is of course by hiring a car. But that is not the only way to get here! There are bus connections from Göteborg to the island of Orust. If you want to learn more about the timetables of the busses take a look at this website: http://www.vasttrafik.se. There are busstops all over the island, I noticed several, one at the campground, one at the village and even one if front of the youth hostel outside of the village.
Fly to Göteborg
Stocken and Orust might seem to be somewhere totally out of the way. But they are much closer by than you might think! Orust is only a one hours drive north of Göteborg! So it is easy to reach by car from this city.
And it doesn't have to be expensive to travel here. There are several low-cost airlines flighing to Göteborg. Take Ryanair for instance. They fly to Göteborg (Gothenborg City) from Frankfurt, Glasgow and London (August 2004). Take a look at their website, hahaha, and start dreaming of a trip to Stocken! :-)))
