Norway and Sweden share a border and the Norwegians living close to the border of Sweden flock to Sweden to buy clothes and food. It is much less expensive buying stuff in Sweden than in the very expensive country of Norway. The Swedes on the other hand flock over to Norway as the pay is higher there. The distance to Oslo is 117 km, but I was...more

This is a simple view of the harbor that shows also the island of Furholmen, very close to the town. As you can see the weather was not so nice so I decided to not to take the boat to explore the coast near the town. Now I think it was a pity but this is a good reason to come back soon!more

This city is packed with Norwegians who has taken the trip to buy cheap food, alcohol and tobaco as the prices are much lower on such goods compared to Norway.
What to buy: Meat, alcohol and tobaco. That's if you're Norwegian, or on your way to Norway.
When I passed Svinesund and I touched the Swedish border I immediately noticed that there were something strange, look at the traffic lines! Normally you can find red&white or red&yellow signals, but in Sweden they are used to paint them using blue&yellow. The reason is only one in my opinion: a bit of sane fanaticism; remember that the Swedish...more

our cabin in the grass, and couldn't resist taking his picture.
Cute little guy.....isn't he?
Stroemstad is known for its fishing activities butwhen you are there you can choose among a great variety of things to do: sun and bathing, boatexcursions, biking, golfing, kayaking, sailing, hiking and shrimppeeling as you can see in the picture I took on the site of the tourist information.
After arriving in Stroemstad you maybe would love to visit also the islands that stand not far from there. In that case you can take the boat that leaves every day (from june the 24th) the harbour to join Furholmen Island. The boat's name is Turlista M/F Birgit. I'm not sure about it but I think is possible to eat something after arriving in...more
