Cuckoo clocks by lnalba There are heaps of kitch souvenir shops in Geneva - plenty to choose from, and some are nicer than others.
You can get a good deal on your Swiss Army Knife, cuckoo clock and items with cow patterns on them (these are everywhere). It is hard not to go to a shop selling cuckoo clocks, but make sure that you do see one, as it is quite a bizarre experience walking into a shop that ticks to the sound of hundreds of clocks on the walls! There are heaps of T-shirts, cowbell keyrings, mugs, watches and lace/embroidered items to buy.
When shopping for souvenirs, it is worth shopping around as you will find significant price differences. I did find that some things I had bought were cheaper elsewhere, even though it was from the same kind of shop. Leave a Comment Theme: GiftsDirections: All of these shops are in the centre of the city, near to the Rue du Mont Blanc and the general area.

If you want to go shopping in Geneva, your best bet is Rue de la Confederation. This street is one of the main pedestrian streets of the city, where all the shops, boutiques and stores are. From clothes, to chocolate, watches, music, etc, you'll find everything here.
Geneva is definitely not a cheap city. Everything is expensive but you do get a very good quality. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Main shopping strip of Geneva at Christmas time by Kiriel For sophisticated shopping for designer named watches, clothes and furnishings, then the old town is the way to go. (and you can check out the great old buildings too) In winter there are people selling hot chestnuts and hot wine on the streets. For more individual and arty items head to Carouge. (A pretty area in itself!) The Christmas markets had an eclectic and interesting mixture of items for sale and was well worth a visit. For general "Department store" type shopping, and the cafe, restaurant and nightclub areas, go to Pacquis. Most buses will stop at Cornavin and if you get off there and head towards the lake you will find everything.
Traditionally, clocks and watches are the purchases to buy in Switzerland, but as yet I am unconvinced that they are a particularly good deal here. Swiss Army Knives are also a good gift and seem reasonably priced. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

A giant Swiss Chocolate Bunny Rabbit at the Manor by stressball The Manor is a very large department store. They have everything you're looking for, including groceries. You can buy Swiss chocolate here on the ground floor, as well as Swiss souvenirs on the first floor.
A trip to Geneva is not complete until you've bought some Swiss chocolate.
Prices of chocolate vary depending on the size and the brand name of the chocolate that you buy. The chocolate, however, is relatively inexpensive for Geneva standards and is well worth the money. Switzerland is known to be very expensive. If you look around, however, you will find many items to be less expensive than at home. Here a little help for budget travellers: OPENING HOURS of shops vary from one canton to another. In Geneva, shops normally open from 8.30 am to 7 pm, to 6 am on Saturday and stores until 9 pm on Thursday. Ouutside these hours - including Sundays - there are many grocery shops that stay open until midnight, but are much more expensive (still useful, if you want to save on restaurant bills). FOOD STORES: Look for special offers (Action!) with savings of up to 50 pct on standard items changing weekly. Good value are DENNER (limited choice), COOP, MIGROS, CARREFOUR, or ALLIGRO. Migros has a supermarket at the airport that stays open on Sunday until 8 pm. GLOBUS is a very nice department store, but in the medium-high price segment.
A watch, of course. But beware: Swatch is cheaper in the US than in Switzerland. And there are no rebates on Rolex, Franck Muller or other luxury watches. Why not a fondue set including a Gerber instant fondue? Yoghurts and cheese are great in Switzerland. And Chocolate, of course: Migros has excellent chocolates. At Manor, my favourite is the Villars chocolate with Kirsch (best in the box at about Fr. 10).
Look around, and you will find that a number of products are cheaper in Geneva than elsewhere (the VAT is only 7.5 percent as compared to France 20 pct or Germany 16 pct.). Leave a Comment Theme: Food and DrinkAddress: City centre or shopping centresDirections: The large Balexert shopping mall is only 5 mins by frequent bus 10 from the airport. Here you find anything from yoghurt to computer components and fashion gear.
