I took my rollers with me thinking the lake surroundings would be a great place to ride.
Well, it's fun bun not entirely true. I thought I could skate along the lake for quite a while. Indeed only the area around the city has its own dedicated path. If you go a bit further, the lake become private :-(
At the end, that still provides a couple of kilometers of fun but be careful, this could be quite crowded as well!
Definitely better, every Monday there is a ride organized by locals, they know where to take you.
Have a look to the following website for more details.

Friday night we went to watch Servette play against Langnau - Swiss top league. Good game but a disappointing crowd.
Equipment: Well, warm clothing to start. Also a telephone number for a taxi if you need one. None go past - we waited a while. Plenty money as well - not cheap to get in.

Geneva has many ski resorts nearby to go skiing or snowboarding. The ones in the French Alps are the closest ones, which enables you to go just for the day: Les Contamines, Flaine, Argentiere, and Megeve.
A little further, and thus better for at least an overnight stay are the Swiss Alps. In Vaud you have Leysin, Villars, Les Diablerets, and even further but yet where the best ski resorts are in Valais: Verbier, Crans, Nendaz, etc.
Equipment: If you did not bring your skiing or snowboarding equipment, you can easily rent everything you need in all the resorts or in Geneva itself before you go.

The lake of Geneva offers you a wide array of water sports possibilities: sailing, waterskiing, diving, etc.
The water temperature tends to be cold even in the Summer though, as the lake is fed by the glaciers around...
Equipment: Many places on the lake rent sailing and motor boats, as well as all the other equipment you need, like waterskis for example. One of them, « Les Corsaires » is located on Quai Marchand des Eaux-Vives, which is also a navigation school.
