How to spend a hot summer day in Geneva when temperatures climb well into the 30s? True, it might not always last for weeks, as it does this summer 2003, but...a jump into the lake is the easiest and cheapest method to avoid melting.
The following website lists beaches. While the water is cleaner around smaller villages, even the Bains des Paquis right in the middle of Geneva won't kill you.
Geneva does not have a beach. Yet it does have a lake and this is the closest to a beach that you will find in Geneva: Les Bains des Paquis is a big dock on the lake, where you can tan, swim, drink, eat, and most definitely people watch! A very interesting mix of people.
Watch out, the water tends to be coldish....
The Bains des Paquis have become one of the most popular summer spots in Geneva. People come here to swim but also to enjoy the drinks counter or listen to the occasional concert.
