Walking & Getting Wet by Lake Geneva
Our JumpingFamily was walking in Geneva during the summer of 2013 near the Jet D"eau fountain, passing through boats and at the end, we find this entrance to a place where we could see people swimming in the lake! There was an low entrance fee, and we paid this to get closer to the water. The place is called Bains des Paquis and is a popular beach on the artificially peninsula tipping from Paquis (western bank) into the Lake. It has a charactristic lighthouse at the end of penicula.
As our JumpingTwins were walking, they were delighted to see huge swans (or are they geese?) with huge nests with eggs! And also, it was great for the kids because there was slide by the water. It was also a great place for photo opportunities with the famous Geneva fountain, Jet D'eau.
Entrance is during the winter, 2CHF in the summer 1st May-14th September. And during winter, they have the Sauna at Bains de Pâquis which we will have to try when we get back to Geneva :)

A pleasant place worth to experience.

Public beaches around the lake
How to spend a hot summer day in Geneva when temperatures climb well into the 30s? True, it might not always last for weeks, as it does this summer 2003, but...a jump into the lake is the easiest and cheapest method to avoid melting.
The following website lists beaches. While the water is cleaner around smaller villages, even the Bains des Paquis right in the middle of Geneva won't kill you.
Les Bains des Paquis
Geneva does not have a beach. Yet it does have a lake and this is the closest to a beach that you will find in Geneva: Les Bains des Paquis is a big dock on the lake, where you can tan, swim, drink, eat, and most definitely people watch! A very interesting mix of people.
Watch out, the water tends to be coldish....

Bains des Paquis
The Bains des Paquis have become one of the most popular summer spots in Geneva. People come here to swim but also to enjoy the drinks counter or listen to the occasional concert.
