Interior of Bleu Lezard by Zvrlj Bleu Lezard – the Blue Lizard is a charming bistro-bar and the nightclub. It is favourite place of Lausanne locals, especially students. Interior of Bleu Lezard is quite artistically decorated. It is often used for art exhibitions – at the time we visited it, in July 2008 there was witty installation made of drawings of jackets, hats, glasses, bottles, pigeons… imitating a real objects and birds. Bleu Lezard is a very good choice for a night joy, listening to a good music… Leave a Comment

Bleu Lezard consists of two floors: the hip local bar and restaurant at the street level and the club below. Both are free of charge, visited by an eclectic local crowd and mostly happening on the weekends. A prefect bar to start the night before heading to a club or simply downstairs.

MAD logo by vanessadb MAD has the art of partying down to a science. They book cool acts like the Jim Rose Circus (think: people who swallow broken lightbulbs), Les Rita Mitsouko (French duo with former porno star as lead singer). Enjoy dance, trance, and theme nights. Show up after midnight when the real fun begins. Pricing is a bit tricky: they charge 25 or 30 francs per night to get in, hoping you'll find that expensive and fork over 250 francs for a yearly pass. The pass guarantees you and two friends free entry.

One of the biggest nightclubs in Lausanne, lots of famous DJ's come to play here. Sometimes there are live concerts as well, so check out their website to see who is playing. Info programme : tel. +41. (0)21 340 69 60 Very well located, right down-town, in the Flon area. Can't miss it, a huge pink condom is on the building. Gay night is Sunday.

This is a great place for performances and life music. What had formerly been a cinema for non-blockbusters was later transformed into a special nightlife spot. It's cosy in there because of the delicate decoration. There are chanson and comedy nights. I went to an "open mic" event, where different artists played one or two songs or gave a comedy performance. Often free entry.

A disco bar a bit further north, it's still at walking distance from the centre. On the main floor there's a rather normal-looking bar with live music (at times - generally jazz - cool !), and if you go downstairs there's a hall with music you can dance to and another small bar. Access is free, but again, the price of drinks more than make up for that. The music downstairs is very relaxed - you'll get your fair share of weird-dancing people too. It's certainly different from all the other mainstream discos with pumping music, but nice. Just don't expect a lot of people, or do, but only if you're lucky (which I'm not). One thing to remember, though, is that if you're by yourself and female or in an all-female small group, then sure as hell you'll be approached by this or that guy who wants to... dance with you. Of course that happens everywhere, but there it just happens more frequently than in any other place I've been to. Cool disco bar near the cathedral, the age count is slightly higher than your-average-students'-place.<br /> It 's located in a sort of old cellar so it's quite dark, but the mood is great. There are three different bars scattered over the place, so you should be able to get something to drink without having to wait too long. Prices are not cheap, though. The music is very dance-y yet not over the top as in a disco, which is good both as background music if you're only there to drink something and as music to dance to if you actually go to the dance floor/hall downstairs. Not far from Place St. François and a plethora of busses on one side, or a multi-storey car park with a reduced night fare at just one minute from the most central locations on the other, it shouldn't be difficult getting there. It's the only real queer place in town (that I know of) but of course open to straight people as well (and you can definitely find some !). There's indeed a great variety of people there. The atmosphere is cool and friendly, the music not too bad either Prices vary from 10 to 15 francs, and it's generally reduced if you get there before midnight (or half past midnight, I don't remember anymore). Drinks are tolerably priced, although by any means not cheap. Better check on the website what kind of "night" is on, as there's usually a different theme each day of the week, except on Sundays and Mondays, when the club is closed. Theme: NightclubAddress: Rue de Bourg 43 - 1003 LausanneDirections: Walk up the Rue de Bourg from Place St. François and be sure to turn left into a slopey street as soon as you see the panel indicating the club. The entrance is ducked in on the left, just a couple of meters away.Website: http://club4310.ch

Centrally-located, it’s one of the places where students often hold university parties. Prices are on the 10-15 francs range but there’s no drink included, and prices for those are fairly high. One things that buggers me all the time is the fact you have to make a long queue just to deposit your jacket - and it costs 2 francs. The ambience is cool, though. It usually gets very packed in there, which results in a yucky, sweaty, hot sauna-like place, but somehow I love it. Still, should you not be like me, there are spots where you can actually breathe a bit more - just get out of the main floor and go to one of the bars which border it. The music is quite decent too (some '80s, some dance, some hip-hop...) - at least you can dance to it. Theme: NightclubAddress: Place Centrale - 1000 LausanneDirections: On a square (with parking places available), near Payot bookshop and the main walking streets.Website: http://www.dclub.ch
