Visit le Chateau de Chillion

Le Chateau de Chillion is approximately a five-minute train ride from the Montreux train station. My expectations for this particular visit were very average. However, when I arrived there and saw the castle sitting on a little partial island on Lake Geneva, I was 100% taken. The castle itself is picturesque from the outside and from the inside. You have great views of architectural elements and of the Lake Geneva region. Make sure you go on a sunny day so that you can enjoy the courtyard and the views of the mountains and the lake from inside the castle observation towers. This is a must do when visiting le Canton de Vaud. It was one of the highlights of my four-month stay in Switzerland.

We didnt plan to do any wine tasting but as we were in the middle of the vineyards, decided to walk through the narrow streets of this village and couldnt help but walk into a wine tasting session.We were invited in and couldnt resist buying some of this fragant wine to take home. Some of the wines from this region are:- Lavaux: wines like: Lutry, Villette, Epesses, Saint-Saphorin, Chardonne, Vevey-Montreux, Dezaley, and Calamin.-Chablais: Including the wines Villeneuve, Yvorne, Aigle, Ollon, and Bex.-La Cote: wines - Morges, Aubonne, Fechy, Perroy, Mont-sur-Rolle, Tartegnin, Coteaux de Vincy, Bursinel, Vinzel, Luins, Begnins, and Nyon.- Bonvillars: Including a wine of the same name, plus Cotes de l’Orbe and Vully (Vaud).
