Villars is a good place to enjoy Sun and Snow... Villars-Gryon-Les Diablerets skifield: 3 cable cars, 8 chairlifts, 24 lifts, 1 cogwheel train and more than 100km of ski tracks for all levels.
Do not forget to take advantage of these specials deals:
1) Free ski pass for kids under 9 y.o.
Special Winter Deal for Family in les Alps Vaudoises (Leysin, Villars, Les Diablerets, Gstaad region). These ski area offer free ski pass for children under 9 years old for this winter season 2005/06. Also free travel for children under 9 y.o. on the little train from Aigle or Bex.
2) Villars-Gryon-Les Diablerets: skipass with discount...
By buying your ski pass online you will avoid to queue at the ticket office and even enjoy a discount from 20% up to 50% for the selected day.
How to do?
1. Get your personal keycard at any main ski resort in Switzerland.
2. Surf on www.tele-villars-gryon.ch, click on easy ski red button and choose your ski day with online discount which could vary depending on the day and weather forecasts
By experience with this ski season 2005/06, the minimum average discount is CHF 9 (CHF 38 instead of CHF 47 for full day ski pass, so minimum discount of 20% up to 50%)

The natural spas at Lavez-les-bains are excellent. They are made up of indoor and outdoor pools and saunas. The best time to go is on a sunny day or at night, preferably when it's snowing. Very relaxing.

For the last few yêars this resort has hosted the snowbombing event which sees a load of Brits take over the resort with "boardin' by day and beats by night" Two main clubs are used and household named DJ's shipped out from the UK. Events also take place on the slopes up at Bretaye. Drinks discounts are also arranged. See www.snowbombing.com

If you are not tired enough of your skiing day, go for a rallye in this lively nightlife place...
Not sure you will be able to go skiing in the next morning or afternoon ;-)
Begin your night to the Charlie's Bar then head to the El Grino Disco, look inside the Absolut VIP Club to say hello to Jacques Villeneuve or David Coulthard...

Beer is very expensive in the resort. Unless you are part of a large group and can sort out a rate, unlike France however this is rare. The chaepest beer I found was under the ice rink which is a bowling / pool / amusement arcade. A half litre beer is 5.5 CHF just under £3 (03/2003). Clubs are even more expensive than the bars.

The Bex-Villars-Bretaye cogwheel train could bring you from the Rhone Valley (Bex) to the Alps (Villars) in 40 minutes. This Alpine railway take you also to the Bretaye pass for your skiing or hiking day.

A funny sign for a great idea...
If you are (skiing) single you could take the express line at some chairlift to avoid the queue and take place more quickly seat on the lift. There you will met some new people and try not to finish solo your skiing day ;-)
