Crans-Montana-Aminona skiing area is a large snowy paradise with 140km of grommed slopes. You could head to the top up to 3000 meters absl thanks to the Funitel cable car and enjoy the Plaine Morte Glacier panorama.

In season, every Friday night you could also enjoy skiing by night to give you a particular feeling. The snow, the terrain and the landscape take on a whole new dimension. A great evening in prospect, just try it!

    Insider tip:
Have a look to the website to get a ski pass with massive discount up to 85% on selected day!!!
This season I get a full day ski pass for CHF 9.- instead of CHF 63.- ;-)

Very beautifully on the mountain slope above Crans-Montana you can stop for local food in the Colombire - Le Relais. I had a tasty Raclette heated by an open barbecue fire. Beside having lunch you should not miss the Alpage Museum introducing you to todays and former farming life in the Swiss mountains.
The staff is very friendly and helpful!

Absolut is an excellent example of what seems to be the prevailing business attitude in Crans: make it expensive, and you'll be fine. For example, a bottle of beer in this place costs about $10 U.S., if I remember correctly, and there's nothing special about the place itself, which is located underground. The music is popular, dancefloor is small, and the clientele varies depending on when you go. During ski season, expect a rich crowd of richly international complexion. In the summer, it's much less in fashion, and, frankly, hit-or-miss. On some nights the place will be quite dead, on others you can be turned away from the door if you arrive at the right hour, well dressed or not.

Dress Code: Club chic! Try to look like you have at least SOME money, especially during ski season.

Absolut is an excellent example of the Crans mentality: make it expensive, and let the rest take care of itself. Let's start with this example: a beers costs $15 American. There's nothing really special about this place--popular music, small dance floor--and whether you have a good time or not seems totally dependent on the people you meet. During ski-season, it's sure to be packed with a rich crowd that is of richly international complexion. In the summer, the scene is hit-or-miss. On some nights the place is quite dead, on others the "average" visitor, even if he's well-dressed, will be turned away during certain hours.

For those not of a nervous dsiposion a hike along one of the Valasian Bisses - pathways folowing water channels originating from the middle ages can be quite an experience. Water used to be precious and as it was abundantly flowing from the glaciers, it just had to be carried at the right place hence these "bisses" -at times they are just channels dug into the ground but others are wooden planks suspended in mid air and clinging to a rock face!

Equipment: definitely good shoes and waterproofs

Well the Bisse du Rho is of one the classic trails in Crans and indeed Valais region. We did complete the walk in safety you will be glad to know - here I am just rounding the cliff. The views of the valley (lienne I think) below were beautiful.

In Crans we hiked Le bisse du Rho. It was a bit of a hairy climb down to it via a wire ladder and we almost thought of turning back but we knew my parents had gone ahead of us to meet us there!
Then just at the start of the Bisse proper the heavens opened for 20mins and then the sun came out and steam dried our clothes! Towards the end yes we did have to walk on those planks - just don't look down is all I can say!

    Equipment: waterproofs!
