    The Elwertaetsch (3208m ) is a nice mountain to climb for ski tour beginners. It is only about a 2 hour climb up (600 height meters) but you will have a downhill route that's 4 times longer! So heaps of fun on a good powder day. The views of the surrounding mountains are nice. Specially the Bietschhorn has lots of character.

    Check the avalanche situation at the cable car station.

    Best thing is to get a day skipass as it is almost the same price as just the one way ticket to the top and come back later for some skiing on the slopes. The skiarea is very nice.

  • Directions: The tours starts in the Lötschental (Wiler) where you take the cable car to Lauchernalp and then the ski lifts to the top (Hockernhorngrat 3111m) and ski down the black slope. You will see from where the tour starts.

    The mountains in the Valais are great for skiing/snowboarding and there are many ski resorts.

    All skiers/snowboarders will have a good time, because there are slopes for beginners and for more experienced people. (blue to black slopes).

    Prices can vary from one resort to another, so check it out before you go...

    The best would be to bring all your gear with you, but you can always find rental stores in the ski resorts.
