    The peak Matterhorn (4478m) is one of the most famous attraction of Switzerland. It can be reached from Zermatt, Switzerland or Breuil/Cervinia, Italy. A superb view is available from Gornergrat (the train station situated at 3099m).
    It is to be mentioned that the delicious Swiss chocolate "Toblerone" with its particularly triangular shape and its peaks represents a stylish reproduction of Matterhorn (BTW the peak is shown on the packaging design).

    Zermatt is a well-situated village (at the foot of the majestic Matterhorn peak), a perfect alpine resort, a paradise for ski and relaxation. No cars are allowed (except electric ones) - it is a very important particularity. The ski facilities are impressive.

    The Matterhorn is the emblem of Zermatt and its shape could have inspired our Swiss chocolate master for the creation of the Toblerone.

    Although different versions exist of where the unique shape of Toblerone originated from, I find this one the more tatsy ;-)

    The view of the Matterhorn from the Kleine Matterhorn viewpoint was a surefire favourite......the 4-stage cablecar trip up here was quite a ride...but what a view. See more of these Kleine Matterhorn Viewpoints in the "must see" section.

    There is no real easy way to get your skis and yourself to the train station without walking in your ski boots...keep this in mind or arrange for a cab to pick you up if you have to carry skis for kids.

  • If you want to contact your mates to tell them to look at you on a webcam (just to torment them whilst they're in the office!) there is a good clear one at Kirchplatz. It only takes a shot every 5 minutes but seems predictable (on the hour then every 5 minutes from then).

    The wonderful view from the top of the Schwarzsee - lovely views far down to the village of Zermatt and also this view across the alpine panorama of the glaciers around Zermatt.
