GANDRIA-THE FISHERMEN'S VILLAGE BUILT ON THE ROCKS
No one visiting Lugano should miss Gandria,a very original fishermen's village ,built near the lakeside.The houses look as if these were built one upon the other,as the small surface was used properly,tohave as many houses as possible there..No beach,the boats enter directly to the entrance of the houses,no cars of course there,but instead much flowers and plants. A joke says that Gandrians never can lie fully horizontally in bed,this position beingpossible only when they reach the cemetery.Of course a joke,but which shows that Gandrians have good sense of humour Gandria has only abt.219 inhabitants,but several hotels and restaurants,which of course are not cheap at all.But from the window of a hotel or restaurant the scenery you see is terrific.The small village hosts also carnivals,painting competitions and many other events.
