I go to these stores to buy my bars of chocolate and already boxed up chocolate.
The first store is: Manor
Monday- Friday (except Thursday) from 8.15 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.
Thursday: from 8.15 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.
Saturday from 8.15 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
Phone: +41 (0)91 912 71 71
Piazza Dante 2
6900 Lugano
It is a department store, but if you head down the escalator, the grocery store is there. Step off the escalator and turn right, you can't miss the huge aisle of chocolate.
The second store is: Coop City
Monday - Friday (except Thursday) from 8.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.
Thursday: from 8.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.
Saturday from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m., Nov-Feb: to 5.00 p.m.
Phone: +41 (0)91 913 73 33
Via Nassa 22
6900 Lugano
It is also a department store. When you enter, to the left, is the chocolate section. It is slightly less here. The variety of products may be different, so I would look at both stores.
I like the selections at Manor and Coop City more than Migros and Carrefour.
You can go to Merkur to buy the same bars, but I've found the prices to be a bit more expensive. BUT, if you are looking to pick your own chocolates and have them boxed, then go here. Their window of chocloate slabs is very tempting and it often draws me in to buy the chocolate with honey....love it!!

Shops are generally open from 8.00 or 9.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. (some with a one or two hour interval, others are open all day); Saturdays shops close at 5.00 o’clock. Supermarkets and department stores are open all day and on Thursdays they are open until 9.00 p.m.
What to buy: Via Nassa is one of Lugano’s historical streets - its particular and sophisticated shops will accompany you in your shopping.

What to buy: The only minor 'troubles' we had in Lugano had to do with parking our car and finding a quick snack. After I'd parked our car in the city somewhere near the Hotel Colorado, I traded only a few euros for Swiss francs in the hotel lobby. I think we bought some sandwiches and bananas with our last francs ; then again, we paid our cappuccino on Piazza della Riforma with euros, which are - as far as our knowledge goes - widely accepted in Switzerland ...

A big shopping center just few minutes outside Lugano.
Lot of different stores like IKEA and MEDIAMARKT.
At the top floor you will also find a Swedish restaurant owned by IKEA, with delicious food, a place to rest a eat something after your shopping or maybe just in the middle of the shopping.
Also a big multimedia store, MEDIAMARKT is available at the second floor.
A big parking is available at the ground floor, if you are going there by car i suggest to arrive early in the morning, the center is really full of people during the Sathurday and on Thursday evening, so if you are late, you will probably have troubles finding a place to park your car.
OPENING HOURS:
MONDAY - FRIDAY 09.00 - 18.30
THURSDAY 09.00 - 21.00
SATHURDAY 09.00 - 18.00

Fox Town Mall may not look as grand as the rest of the mall in Lugano. This place has all the branded shops you can find everywhere else in the world. This outlet is approximately 15 minutes away from Lugano train station. So far I think it is the best for cheap designer shopping. If you are ever in town and want to buy expensive named brands, do not forget to check this place out.

There are some typical Italian style food shops here with a wide selection of Italian goodies. Whether you fancy pasta, sauces, fruit, salami, panetone or even outrageously expensive truffles, you won't leave empty handed for sure! The shops are a very pleasing eyesight and very popular for taking pictures.
If you are there during lunch time, you may want to buy a snack over the counter and sit in the park or by the fountain on a bench and enjoy what's going on.

Lugano is a shopping paradise... for the very rich! I'd never seen so many jewellers and watch shops in such a small area and if you have the money, there are many beautiful things to choose from.
Even if you're not planning to buy, enjoy the fabulous window displays.
