Monte Generoso

by elgin99

The mountain with the best view of the canton Ticino. One reaches the point comfortably after a 40-minute journey with the rack railway. She starts in Capolago (274 m.ü. M.) and leads by untouched nature. On the point a modern infrastructure offers catering possibilities in the restaurant as well as overnight stay possibilities for individuals and for groups. From the "Vetta" (1 ' 704 m.ü. M.) which one reaches at 10 minutes on foot from the railway station one enjoys a miraculous look at the lake area, the lombardische plain up to the Apennines as well as on the Alpine chain. The look reaches from the Finsteraarhorn to the Matterhorn and from the Jungfrau up to Monte Rosa. (One view in Travelogue.)

lugano one of the Swiss holiday places

by hanspeter_W.

Lugano, the largest town in the holiday region of Ticino, is not only Switzerland's third most important financial centre and a conference, banking and business centre, but also a town of parks and flowers, villas and sacred buildings. With Mediterranean flair, Lugano offers all the advantages of a world-class city, combined with the cachet of a small town. Detail

A must is a visit to a grotto

by bianchis

A Grotto the typical Tessiner Grotto is a rustikaler building and is usually at a remote, shady place with a cool cellar where the famous vino is stored and a area under the trees or a terrace, with stone tables and banks.Typical dishes: Salami and mortadella from the "butcher", Minestrone, tripe, Risotto, mariniert fish, Vitello, cold and warm roast with salad and roasted potatoes, Polenta with roasts (brasato), rabbit stew, (cazzoela), mushrooms, cheese and fresh cheese, Zabaglione (eggnog), bread cakes, peaches soaked in wine. Merlot, the house wine or the Barbera with Gazzosa (lemonade) taste best from the Boccalino or the Tazzino.

Lugano, S. Maria degli Angioli

Originally the church belonged to a monastery of Minorites. She rescues the most famous Renaissance wall picture of Switzerland. The monastery was founded 1490, church later. The fresco painting of the passion and crucifixion of Christ is a masterpiece of Bernardino Luini.Very impressive church!

Lugano, Cruise on lake

by elgin99

A boat tour on Lugano Lake is worthful to do. Around the beautiful plants and high mountains. Do it only as a tour or as the start for a trip to Monte Generoso, like we did. There are a lot of possibilities for cruises over the lake. During the day or specials on evening, sometimes with firework.Websites are in many languages, please, look there.

Sonogno, baking oven

by elgin99

Sonogno, village

by elgin99

Lavertezzo Bridge

by elgin99
