Some touristic brochure says this is one of the best places in Ticino (the Swiss county where Cevio lies). I found it very nice and relaxing, indeed!
"Bèola" is the common name of the local stone that is the basis of construction in that area. You will find, houses, roofs, walls and any other sort of items obtained from this peculiar kind of granite.
In this case, supports for vine growing is also made by "bèola", with a typical hook shape at the top. "Bèola" used to be the only way to support vine trees until very recent, than, rational vine producing technology imposed a change, but still local producers, mainly for self-consumption, use it.
