Favorite thing: On the main square there is this fountain to refresh pilgrims. In summer it can be quite crowded because whole busloads of tourists (modern pilgrims) come from as far away as Southern Germany.

Maria Einsiedeln - a nice pilgrim-church
Einsiedeln is a small village south-east of Zurich and it is the most popular pilgrim-monastery of Switzerland

It's very famous and the highlight of the town. From the railway station it's about a 10 minutes' walk to the main square.

Einsiedeln is a picturesque village at the shore of Lake Sihl (Sihlsee). The village is not only famous for its abbey but also for its ginger bread. The kids do sledging in the hills behind the abbey....
