Engelberg can be reached from Lucerne easily by narrow gauge train in less than an hour via the red Zentral Trains - the last section is quite steep as it slowly pulls up the gradient on the cogs. Swiss Pass and the Tell Pass can be used for this journey. If in Vitznau, as we were, you can also cross the lake to Beckenried, get the post bus to Stans and pick the train up from there. Bear in mind its a long journey from here so an early start is recommended.

When you are in Engelberg and you want to go up on Mount Titlis, you need to take a cable ride. This cable ride will take you up on the mountain (3020 meter/10000 feet). The ride is really great as you can enjoy the scenery.

The trip to Mt.Titlis from Talstation Titlisbahn takes approx. 40mins in 3 different "type of transport".First, you'll have to board on 6-person Gondola, then change to the Trübsee and take the cable car to Stand Glacier Station. And last but not the least, take the Titlis Rotair, the first revolving cable car (note: it's the floor that rotates around it's own axis)

Rotair the last section from Strand to Titlis (Stand (8'000 ft) - Titlis (3'020 m / 10'000 feet) was the first revolving cable car in the world. If you prefer not to rotate then migrate to the middle section of the gondola which does not rotate - room for 5 people here.
