Mystery-Park in Interlaken just just about 10km to drive from Giessbach and it might make sense to go there on a rainy day. You will have to decide for yourself, wether "Mystery World" is a place that you would like to go or not . The entrance-fee is 48 sfr - I rather go to one of the mountains around Interlaken instead ! maybe it makes sense to go there on a rainy day...
I have not been inside Mystery World, simply because I think that Erich von Daeniken has funny theories without any historic fact behind of them. He still believes in exterritorical visits even in places, where the corn-fields had certain patterns a few years ago, and finally science found out that this was just a joke by some people.... and while the newspapers kept telling us , that human beeing never would find a way to make such giant patterns, 2 elderly men finally revealed that they could be done by a long rope that was turned around the centre like a pair of compasses and walking around without leaving any traces was easy by stilts....
BUT there seems to be a big market for such "Mysteries" today, and "Mystery World" helps a lot to fill some of the hotel-beds even out of season.
The "Mystery park" is open daily 10.00a.m. - 06.00p.m.
the entrance-fee is 48 sfr / 32 Euro per person
after 03.30 p.m. the entrance-fee is 28 sfr / 18 Euros !
for the carpark you pay 5 sfr per day.

Mystery World is in "Matten" - a part of Interlaken between Interlaken-West-station and Boenigen. When you drive on the highway from Giessbach it has the same exit as Interlaken Ost ! You may also take the ship to Interlaken Ost and from there you take the BUS 339 !

The Sherlock Holmes-Museum in Meiringen might be another great excursion from Giessbach on a rainy day. This small museum is a must for all fans of Sherlock Holmes : In der very centre of Meiringen you may see the world's first authentic replica of the living-room of Sherlock Holmes in Bakerstreet 221b. This replica was made according to the exlanations, given in the books and it includes all the small details beeing mentioned there. This room is shown in a small museum that includes plenty of other interesting Holmes-souvenirs, letters that were sent from all over the world to "Sherlock Holmes, Bakerstreet, London" etc.etc.etc.
You really might get the feeling, Holmes was a real person, how else could they show his private things there...
The Sherlock Holmes Museum is open
May-September : Tue-Sun 01.30-06.00p.m.
October-April: 04.30-06.00p.m.
You may get easily to Meiringen by your own car, by bus or ship to Brienz and then by train to Meiringen.

Saegistalsee is a small mountain-lake that you will pass by, when hiking from Giessbach or Axalp to Schynigge Platte via Faulhorn. That lovely mountain-lake is to be found in the hight of 1937 meters above sea-level - at about half of the way between Weberhuette (read more about it in my restaurant-tip!) and the Faulhorn.
I could not find an official walking-path to this lake, but you may see it even from a long distance when walking to Faulhorn.
Saegistalsee is high above Iseltwald, BUT the steep rocks around the lake will not allow you to walk down directely from Seagistalsee to Iseltwald.

Aareschlucht might be a great half-day-excursion from Giessbach, especially when it is cloudy, because the sun never gets there anyway
Aaraschlucht is a gorge, where the river Aare flows through a quite narrow valley - at first the rocks on both sides of the gorge are in a distance of 200 meters or even more and at the end of the path through the gorge you may touch the rocks on both sides at the same time. 1400 meters of artificial paths, tunnels and bridges are leading you through Aaraschlucht. In my personal opinion Aareschlucht is somehow over-rated and only recommendable, when you have not first seen similar places like Truemmelbach in Lauterbrunnen.
From Meiringen you may take the train to Aareschlucht West and walk down the gorge - that way you walk from the less interesting part to the highlights at the end. Or you may park your car at the Aareschlucht-Westeingang, walk up the valley - and start with the most spectacular part and end finally at the east-entrance, where you may just walk back again.
--- --- --- --- --- ---
Aareschlucht is open April-November 1st
In July&August there will be light-effects each Wed&Fri 09.00-11.00p.m.!
2/3 of the path, beginning at the West-gate - are adapted for wheelchairs
Parking for guests is free of charge at the West-gate
There is a restaurant, a self-service and a kiosk there !

Iseltwald is the only village at the south bank of Brienzer See and it is just a few Km from Giessbach. Untill about 15 years ago Iseltwald was a quite remote and unknown village, because the only road leading there was a "cul de sac" from Interlaken and most of the tourists came by boat to Iseltwald. Another quite important obstacle for mass-tourism was the fact, that the open sun will never shine on the village before 10.00a.m., because of the high mountains next to the village.
Today there is the highway also at the south of Brienzersee - most of it through a tunnel - and it became rather easy to get there. Still the village is a lot less touristy than Interlaken or Brienz and during a really hot summer-month it might be a good place to stay for a vacation and avoid the extreme heat.
Iseltwald has a seperate exit on the highway between Brienz and Interlaken. You may also take a small road with a dead end from Boenigen, in case that you do not have a "highway-vignette" / sticker. And of course you may get there easily by boat from Brienz.
