The little castle
is an intriging sight. Nowadays a museum it used to be a tower in the medieval city wall.
Enter the museum via a small covered bridge.

This cosy pub is due to its central position very popular. You may hang in and listen to occasional live music or drop by for a pint and listen to the typical to foreigners though incomprehensible mumbling.
Dress Code: none

It is really to travel around in Switzerland by train. There are many trains going to othere cities. Some are direct trains, others you have to change trains. If you know a Swiss citizen (a friend, penpal, etc) and you are staying with this person, you can get a cheaper ticket. Otherwise you have to pay the full price.
In the Swiss train you can take your bike as well. You can 'hang' them at certain parts of the train (see one of the pictures with this tip).

Heimatwerk is a classy shop for tourists. Swiss do frequent it too, though.
What to buy: Here you may buy all the neat little things you have seen on your trip around Switzerland but didn't dare to buy. It's your occasion to finally purchase the item you desperately wanted - no need to go home and cry after that wonderful piece of...you couldn't buy, for your party had already left the shop and waited for you outside... unpatiently
What to pay: a lot

Around the church there are several little alleys that want to be explored. Since the old town is not too large you won't get lost, trust me. So, be brave and lurk into the small "Gassen" experience the charm of the old.

Favorite thing: The Graben is a street that goes in a semi-circle around the old town of Aarau. It divides the old from the newer part of the city.
So, inside it there are merely private and small boutiques which have their own flair. The ones outside are bigger markets and shops.
Fondest memory: Although I went here to high school I do have quite good memories about the city.
It is here I meet my old class mates when I every once in while fly in and check the situation.
