inside a SBB wagon by sinoda Baden as in the intro mentioned is due to its central location a passage city. Most trains from Zurich to Bale/Berne (vice versa) stop here, so it is very easy to catch a train in either direction without checking much with the itinerary. Leave a Comment

Baden's train station by sswagner Baden is less than half an hour from Zurich by train. There seem to be a couple of departures an hour during the best part of the day. Since I did not want to validate my Swiss Pass until the next day, the return trip from Zurich was about 20 Swiss Francs. There are plenty of places to eat and a large shopping area in the immediate area of the train station. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

Baden train station. by dabidc Baden is well connected to the Swiss Rail System and it is easy to get to any part of Switzerland. Many trains stop at Baden and then quickly cover the distance to the next town or City or indeed all over the land. Always keep in mind that the trains run ON TIME. Yes I cannot stress that enough, they run ON TIME. Yet there is time to leave a train and go to another platform to catch a connecting train or bus. That is another point, the Bus Station is close to or even a part of the train station. This includes City Transit buses as well as Post Buses when in the smaller urbanised places. Maake use of the web site to plan your vacationalso look at the various fare deals and prices. get a Half Price card if you plan to travel by train and bus. Leave a Comment

cathlic church, Baden by sinoda The church itelf doesn't differ much from the other chrches in the kanton. What is interesting though, is the little stage setting on the north side of the church. There is a little scene build which represents a situation from the Gospel. You ought to have a look. It is quite nice. Leave a Comment Directions: In the old part of the town

Ruine Stein, Baden by sinoda Maybe you have noticed while reading on my pages I normally try and get to highest point of the location in question in order to get some perspectives... ... so in Baden as well. I suggest you climb up the stairs from the side of the old town (Altstadt) and have a look at the spectacular scenery. On clear days you may see as far as to the Alps in the south and might get a glimps of the Schwarzwald (D) in the north... Leave a Comment Directions: you possible cannot miss this spot

Covered wooden bridge, Baden by sinoda Check out the whole of Baden, but don't forget to go down to the river Limmat which divides the city in two parts - actually Wettingen is almost instantly on the other side. Once you'v reached the old craftman's part of the town you'll easily find this amazing bridge. It looks so different from what you are used to see. Take a good look at the facade of the bridge, stunning, millions of little wooden pieces build the wall of the bridge. Leave a Comment Directions: down by the river

In the Limmat (river) in Baden there are hot springs. Above the river there are ceveral spas. The spa's are a paying proposition. The ruins of Stein Castle overlook the town of Baden. There are clear views of the surrounding countryside, the old town, the train station, and the river below. From the center of the old town, a narrow alley with stairs begins the climb up to the ruins. The trail ascends past small gardens and homes. In some areas, it feels like a nature trail. There are small animals such as lizards (did not expect these in Switzerland) and some wildflowers. The views are very rewarding, and it is easy to see the historic town below. Not much is left of the castle, but there are still some walls and a few other structures remaining. Even with the castle in ruins, it is still nice to look at and enjoy the visit. Leave a Comment

Old Town of Baden by sswagner This is a great town to simply walk around and explore. On a warm day, there will be some nice outdoor cafes in town. Some of the highlights are the colorful church and steeple, the medieval clock tower, and the covered bridge that spans the Limmat River. If arriving from the train station, at first the area will seem like a modern shopping mall. A few blocks of walking will lead to the nicer areasThere are a few museums as well as the trip up to the ruined castle to complement the visit here. Leave a Comment
