The Migros concept consists of three levels each of which is labeled with either 1, 2 or 3 Ms, three being the one with the best range of choices.
Migros used to be considered as a cheap and low quality chain during the 80s, but nowadays M is accepted and some times even admired.

This is the store where we get the spicy stuff, the salt of our food so to speak.
(sorry for not remembering the name, I try and up-date it asap)
What to buy: Spicy n' fresh vegetables (in vinaigre), peperoni, paprika; anything that makes you regret you even had the idea of tasting it in the first place.
What to pay: more than average

Coop is one of the major food and drink store chains in Switzerland. It is quite similar to Migros, but the image brand is different. Coop has developed rather successfully is own NaturaPlan brand - biodynamically grown food.
Quality is good and they have an excellent assortment of wines, namely Swiss wines.
What to buy: food, drink, hygienic stuff etc.
What to pay: about same as Migros...

The shop is small, often crowded and well located.
What to buy: Bread, bakery, sweets and sodas.
My favourite bread is the "St.Galler" eihter white or mixed flour. It's best when you buy a loaf of one kilogram, the bigger the better!
Here size does matter =}
I just love the crust and the still warm n' soft "pulp" with some butter and honey on it, oh boy, I could kill for that...
What to pay: sorry, don't remeber exactly - maybe some 5Sfr.
