Muri Abbey mixture Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque
Founded in 1027 by Ita of Lothringen and Radebot of Habsburg at least CHF50 million has been spent to restore this historical abbey.The ceiling painted by Giorgioli, showing saints and images of Benedictine missionaries and scenes from the life of Christ and are being restored to their former glory.A small group of monks reside there since 1961.Numerous organ recitals and concerts for secular music are held here.For organ lovers, there are 5 organs which are played separately or altogether.The "Osterspiel von Muri", a passion play is internationally quite famousYou can also see paintings from the famous alpine artist Caspar Wolf (1753-83)
