Internet Terminals at the Post Office by german_eagle I know that Switzerland is infamous for being expensive (hm, I do only partly agree). For those of us who need to check their emails and send e-greetings to the world out there (especially to VT!) - here is a tip: Go to the Central Post Office in the old town (Freie Strasse, see also Off The Beaten Path Tip) where really cheap Internet access is available. I could not believe it at first. You have to insert a 1-Sfr-coin and then you can surf and surf and surf ... For some special websites (safe connections e.g.) you are charged (a low rate), but VT e.g. was free. I almost spent a half hour there and could probably have spent an hour or more for this 1 SFr. Drinking water fountain at Schaffhauser Rheinweg by german_eagle A very nice thing in Basel is that there are lots of such fountains providing drinking water. Save your money and drink this free water instead of buying expensive mineral water at the groceries! And there is no need carrying around bottles with mineral water!
It was sunny, I had just finished a tiring (but enjoyable) visit of the former Carthusian monastery and got thirsty. I walked along Schaffhauser Rheinweg and stumbled every 200 m across such little fountains ... wondering if I could drink this water I asked a local and he said yes, you can! I hesitated first, but finally I drank (and I survived!). Later I reassured with my friend Phil, a local, and he told me that these fountains indeed provide tap water, and it is drinking water! For all those who are interested in culture, museums, art collections the regional museums pass (Oberrheinischer Museumspass) is a great deal. The Museums Pass covers more than 150 museums in the region, including Germany, France and Switzerland and such famous museums like the Art Museum in Basel and the Unterlinden museum in Colmar. I purchased the short-time version, valid four days within one month. It costs 25 Euro. www.museumspass.com (in German and French only) E-mail: info@museumspass.com Tel. CH: 061-205 00 40 Tel. Relaxing at the Rhine by Madschick Whenever I am in Basel I love to take some time to go to the banks of the Rhine river and sit down on the steps. I am usually in best company, because everybody seems to enjoy it just as I do! Leave a Comment

Conversing with art by littlesam1 There is very little grafitti anywhere in Switzerland. It is generally a very clean and beautiful country. However you can come across some interesting and amusing drawings on buildings occasionally. Here is one that almost looks life like as Jim stands to have a conversation with the drawing. by littlesam1 I am not sure who Peter Mollet Geb is or was. However I did come across this interesting monument to his. It had inscribed on the it Peter Mollet Geb 1921 from Dr. Rudolf Riggenbach. I always love unique statues and monuments and was glad to find this one. Leave a Comment
