This is an small American-Mexican style restaurant. The food is excellent and fairly priced for the area, even if the portions are a little small. The one down side is that the service is very slow, we had to wait around 50 minutes for our food one evening.

Fischerstube, this is a small beer hall on Rheingasse in Kleinbasel. They brew their own beer, called Ueli beer, in three different varieties, light, dark and special. It is the nicest beer you will find in Basel and it is cheap at 5.30CHF for half a litre. They also serve Swiss food.
'It started as protest and has become philosophy. In 1974, Hans Jakob Nidecker, a doctor from Klein-Basel, was fed up with the brewery cartels. So he bought the historic Fischerstube restaurant and its brewing license and began brewing a natural beer that adhered to the Bavarian purity laws of 1516. That means only malt, hops, yeast and water can be used in the brewing. No chemicals, no preservatives.
The people developed a taste for it and soon the Fischerstube became a Klein-Basel meeting point known far and wide. The restaurant stands on historic ground – Roman chronicles from the year 374 mention 'Robur prope Basiliam,' a fortification near Basel – and the foundations of the fortifications were unearthed during the construction of the brewery.

Ueli Beer takes its name from folklore. Four Ueli (jesters) accompany the main figures during the Vogel Gryff festival, which has been celebrated since the 14th century.

All four kinds of Ueli Beer are naturally cloudy since they are unfiltered and therefore contain the yeast residue which gives the beer its full aroma.' borrowed from http://www.freewheeling.net/eBasUeli.htm

Favorite Dish: Beer!

I'll start off with the only good thing I can think of about the place, the portions are generous. Apart from this, the service is the worst I've experienced anywhere, the food is over priced, and it is trying to be the Hard Rock Cafe and failing. This place is a non-descript 'American' style restaurant serving the same yuk that you find in American restaurants across the globe. Unfortunately it is the only restaurant in Basel that will attempt to cope with fairly large groups (they fail!) so I've had to endure it three times!

Favorite Dish: This is not my favorite restaurant at all, but this is in here to warn you to avoid it at all costs!
