Instead of walking, many take a boat across the Rhine.
It is very inexpensive to do this and it runs on a cable.
This is the bus stop that takes you to and from the Euro airport in Basel. It is located at the Bahnhoff.
There are various ferries across the Rhine river, which cost only CHF 1,20. The view is very nice and it is much more enjoyable than walking across a bridge!!!
Basel has three trainstations: a Swiss one(Basel SBB), a German one (Basel Bad) and a French one (Basel SNCF).
From Basel SBB trainstation it is only a 15 minute walk to the city center.
I got to Basel from Mulhouse, France, by rail. I had an Inter Rail ticket, so I have no idea abuot the prize.
On the picture there is a Basel's train station.
Buses and trams are an efficient way of transport, but the old centre is best explored on foot. Bus- and tramtickets should be bought in advance.
Mobility Ticket !
While you are accommodated in any basel hotel you get The Mobility Ticket - you can use city public transportation for FREE !!!! Isn't it great ?
