Favorite thing: Adelboden, situated in the west of the Berner Oberland region of Switzerland, at the end of the valley of the Engstlige river, is a traditional Swiss mountain village on a terrace looking south to the Engstligen waterfalls. Not so oft visited by tourists as its a bit of a trek on the post bus to get here but for those in the know its a sunny valley and its great mountain transport links mean its heaven for hikers in summer and skiers in winter, although scenery is not as dramatic as that in the Jungfrau area. The centre has plenty of shops and cafes strung along the main road and the church with its Romanesque tower provides a central meeting focus.

Favorite thing: the friendship of the local people
Fondest memory: the local food and the swimming pool, they have a couple of inflatibles in the water and it is good fun trying to get into them if you are a bit on the big side

Just back from 10 days in Adelboden. The town/village is pretty small, with a small supermarket, a few bars, several coffee shops/chocolatiers, and loads of expensive outdoor clothes shops.

i have been to switzerland three times now and still love it. everytime i have went i have stayed in adelboden . i think the region is beautiful and would recomment it to everybody there is a bus...
