Entering the restaurant is a big esperience. You're going down long stairs, about 10 meters down the street level and you arrive in the former cellar of Bern. The ceiling is very high and decorated with ancient paintings. You could believe you're in a church. The light is dimmed, very classy mood. Food and service are excellent.
Favorite Dish: The food is also delicious. Mainly Italian, but there are also some typical Swiss dishes like "Bärner Platte" (sauerkraut with sausages and potatoes) and "Chalbsläberli mit Röschti" (calf's liver with hash browns).

The Kornhauskeller is the place to go if you want to have a great meal in a special place and if you are prepared to pay for that.
As the name says it is in a cellar. The huge cellar roofs are covered with over hundred year old paintings, the light is indirect, candles on the tables creating a very special athmosphere.
It has been renovated only a few years ago.
The food there is very good. The menu card isn't very big but for that of very good quality.
Just remember one thing when you go there. it is an expensive place!!!!

This restaurant used to be a "corn house" (Korn Haus). It's located near the Kornhausplatz in the old town. Most locals I know like this place, trendy and classy.
