Eis-Palast / Ice Palace is another great sight on top of Jungfraujoch : It is a big area inside the mountain, where all of the corridors and all of the halls are made by solid ice. You may see various sculptures made of ice and you have to be careful, when walking, but there are hand-rails and somehow it was less slippery than outside at the Jungfrau-Plateau.
This part of the Jungfraujoch-attractions was not really so very special in my opinion, BUT of course it might make sense to go there on a day, when it is storming and too cold in order to get outside.
You will also see that most people skip that part of Jungfraujoch, but it might be a nice experience for children !
As I told you in the previous TIP: the ice palace really is completely hewn out in the thick layer of pure ice.
It is not as green as seen in my photo but that must have been the light and reflection!
Here you see the entrance and see: the floor, the walls, the ceiling: everything is PURE ICE so you really have to be careful and hold on to the railing!!
It is a place for a good laugh!
The sculptures are PERFECT and ATTRACTIVE!
Yes, this is where you walk while visiting the WONDERFUL ICE PALACE.....the layer of ice between you and the people who walk outside is some 7 - 10 metres thick!!
Well, the palace is like a freezer where the most beautiful sculptures are on display!
The walls are ICE, the floors are ICE, everything is ICE,ICE,ICE.......so do take care!! But it is absolute great fun and the palace is one of the most popular attractions for the visitors!
All over the place are signs, which is great. I wouldn't have been able to guess how many metres of ice there would be above my head, while admiring the ICE SCULPTURES!
It´s place called Ice Palace on the top of Europe - Jungfrau. It´s like some ice caves covered with ice and You can find different ice sculptures here. Even floor is covered with ice :)
