Do not use the taxi in Interlaken unless you really need to go out of town (even then only if unavoidable). We were told on numerous occasions by our tour guide that we should take a cab from railway stations West to Ost (east). This was ridiculous, even to walk at a steady pace only took 15 to 20 minutes or take one of many buses or trains (the stations are all together) from one to the other worked well for us. We never had any problem and never once felt the need to call a cab.
Unique Suggestions: The taxi rank is in the bus station at Interlaken West so check buses first!
Fun Alternatives: For something different and if you can afford it (price unknown - we didn't do it) how about a trip around the town on a horse-drawn carriage? Also available from bus station!

Don't bother.
The casino is a small, depressing, expensive, waste of time.
Even Aussie RSL clubs such as the City of Sydney outrank this establishment.
Fun Alternatives: Go to the supermarket, fill up on good German beer, take back to hotel, watch the snow and have your own party. Or visit a backpackers bar and chat with some locals working there.

The Schilthorn, as described in brochures and as seen in a James Bond movie, is certainly a great place. Just imagine a building at the very top of a high mountain, surrounded by other beautiful mountains, and this building consists of a rotating restaurant, with a cheaper, non-rotating cafeteria on the lower floor, and a panoramic terrace all around. What a great view from there! Certainly, excepted for the fact that the top of the Schilthorn is nearly always surrounded by clouds, at least in the summer season, and this means you cannot see anything at all.
Unique Suggestions: If you want to try your luck and visit the place, I recommend you to take advantage of an information channel on the local TV, available in most hotels and tourist centres, which shows in real time the weather conditions in the most popular locations, including the Schilthorn. Or you can go to an internet cafe and visit the website www.swisspanorama.com, where you can check the weather conditions thanks to a livecam (same informations as on the TV).
Fun Alternatives: Going to the top of the Schilthorn requires a trip in more sections, with different means of transports, all of them rather slow, so you may be half-way up when you notice that the weather is changing on the top of the mountain. If you have already boarded your gondola for the last leg of the jouney, there is no alternative, so just enjoy the view until you reach the clouds. But if you are still in Murren, and you have not yet bought your ticket, you can forget the Schilthorn and enjoy the place where you are. The village of Murren is in a beautiful area, with a commanding view of the Eiger mountain and of the Lauterbrunnen valley, so you can go for a walk and take great photos.

At the top of the jungrafraujoch food options are ridiculous: a bollywood restaurant (only indian food available) or the cafeteria, serving only Asian noodle in plastic ready-to-microwave bowls (with asian writings on it - japanese i believe)
Unique Suggestions: there's no escape... unless you want to go without lunch. I happily decided I would diet, that day.
Fun Alternatives: pack your own lunch or else you'll be eating crisps or - if very lucky - a slice of truly unedible apple cake
