There are many short and long hikes available from Meiringen. They take you up on both sides of the Hasli valley. Some of them you can combine with ropeway rides.
Equipment: .
I recommend that you bring hiking boots of some sort or other, a day pack, water, sun and rain protection and an apple. There are plenty of restaurants all over the place but of course you are free to picnic somewhere too.

Meiringen is a perfect place to try out this monster-scooter : You may rent it for 13 sfr at Gasthaus Zwirgi and go down one of the many asphalted mountain-roads. That price includes the rent of the compulsory helmet and you may give back the scooter at the ground-station of the Reichenbachfall-funicular.
When going up Reichenbach-funicular you may get a ticket that includes the ride in the Monster !!
Equipment: Don't worry, the helmet is included in the rental-price, you just have to give a deposit as well or register with a passport etc.

Meiringen-Hasliberg, lies on a sunny terrace above Meiringen. The gondola "Meiringen-Hasliberg-Bahn" takes you in only 5 minutes to Reuti, another gondola to Mägisalp, where you have a choice of other lifts.
