YUM! The food in this Bakery was very enticing!
We were going out for the day, and wanted to buy something for our morning tea, the problem was the choice! This Bakery had so much fattening food to choose from, and if that wasn't bad enough, they sold Chocolate's as well!
Well, we did choose, and the food melted in our mouth's, it was yummy!
I would go back again if I lived close by!

This little restaurant is situated amongst a string of outdoor cafes; along the River Aare in an area called the Muhleplatz…once upon a time there stood a mill here for grinding wheat The setting for the restaurant is wonderful and the design of the interior is quite interesting, it seems to have been a stall or storage room at one time or other in a past life, the walls are made of stone and mortar, the finish kind of rough, the lighting just right to create a wonderful ambiance.
The restaurant is built right into the structure of a larger building that obviously dates from long ago
KAFEE Und Kuchen is not a large restaurant, maybe ten or twelve tables indoors and quite a few outdoors.
Sitting outside if you are able to allows a view of people coming and going, in other words, it’s a great spot to “people watch”..
Favorite Dish: We sat outdoors on a beautiful day and feasted on a hearty breakfast; I enjoyed an overly large portion of a Rosti, a potato mixture with bacon or ham and onions and melted cheese and topped off with a fried egg. Anita enjoyed something more healthy, a granola and yogurt mixture and a slice of a special sweet bread and coffee..
The service was prompt, friendly and efficient, we didn’t wait long to be served, we didn’t wait long for our food to be brought to us and we both enjoyed our meals.
I didn’t get to see the bill for this one…Anita was too quick for me this morning, but it wouldn’t have been too expensive Im thinking maybe 40 CHF for our meals, a large bottle of water and two coffees.
I would definitely return for a lunch another time or perhaps dinner.

When the boat got closer to Merligen's station I spotted one of the most inviting lakeside terraces I've ever seen. It is attached to Hotel Beatus, right by the boat station. Having a coffee there was a must!
I ordered a cappucino and the waiter - extremely attentive, knowledgeable and kind - convinced me to try their sorbet. A great experience - rich flavour of four different fruits, absolutely delicious. Do I have to mention that it was pure luxury to relax in the comfy sofa and sip the cappucino? Certainly not cheap but not expensive either.

Steinmann Pic is a cheap self-service snack-bar or kiosk and you may get there fresh croissants, sandwiches, fresh fruits, hot and cold snacks, chocolate, coffee etc.
When you enlarge my picture you may see the main train-station of Thun in the back, so this snack-bar is simply at a very good place : 50 meters to the the Hauptbahnhof and about 200 meters from the ships-landing-place for Thunersee. This is also the street that you have to take in order to get to the castle and the centre of Thun.
Favorite Dish: I just had a sandwich and some orange-juice because I was in a hurry and wanted to see the city as soon as possible.
Steimann Pic is open 7 days a week !
Monday-Friday 06.00a.m. - 07.00p.m.
Saturday & Sunday 08.00 a.m. - 05.00p.m.

An enjoyable, supposedly italian restaurant.(authenticity doubtful just see call_me_rhia's page). Dining area had nice views over the river and a pleasanrt meal was had here for the VT meeting at lunctime.
Favorite Dish: Most people had Pizza's - of which there was quite a variety which included deer meat which Rhia had. I had one of the house pasta specialities which was a mild creamy seafood curry ...quite delicious too.

Favorite Dish: A varied menu - most had a lemon chicken dish, pappardelle (a kind of pasta) with hare sauce was also available. The desserts, especially the tiramisu & pannacotta are delicious. Augusta and i couldn't decide between them so we shared with each other...twice as nice!

Strange place.. good italian food, and no one who speaks italian. plenty of paintings on the walls with scens from several italian places - venice - but particularly liguria (rapallo, zoagli) - and yet the artist is someone called alex zürcher - not a very italian name. Moral of the story: a fake, but delicious, italian restaurant
Favorite Dish: some weird pizza... with wild mushrooms and deer... quite good actually.!

Nice and cosy - a warm interior - and often busy - reservations are recommended. The restaurant's very "airy" and the staff very polite and - it must be added - patient.
Favorite Dish: pappardelle (a kind of pasta) with hare sauce. The desserts (tiramisu - pannacotta) are delicious too. (and no, i did not have two, I shared with someone).

Interlaken does not seem to offer a wide choice of cheap eats. The snack stall at Interlaken Ost sells juicy burgers. I bet their customers are mostly backpackers; it's so convenient to simply grab and go.

there are a lot of good restaurtants - my favorite is the 'noodles' - casa della pasta. if you would like to eat the original swiss food the 'walliser kanne' will offer you from raclette to fondue all you want - or go to the 'steinbock' a also realy good restaurant, but there it's better to eat in the first floor (just open over wintertime)
