by Homaard Thun is a great gateway to the Swiss Alps. Hiking trails are very well marked. You could find everything from strolling around town to severe mountain climbing madness, it is all there. You could take the cable car up to Stockhorn (Altitude approx. 2300m/69000ft).
If you are more into severe hiking, then you should take the train to Interlaken, then take a bus to Habkern and from there hike to Augstmatthorn. You'll have an fantastic view over Lake Brienz to Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. And you won't find any tourists there (they are all on Jungfrau). With a bit of luck you'll spot a herd of ibex there. Well, I could give you dozens of other hikes.... you won't get bored here!
Good quality hiking boots, warm jumper, sun creme (even in winter!!), water-proof jacket, enough water, especially in summer and something to eat - and a friend :-) Leave a Comment
