	Climbing Hall

If you have a bad weather day there is a nice climbing hall.
Here some details:

585 m2 climbing wall

Routes for beginners and profis

Opening hours from Monday to Thursday 14:00 til 22:00
Saturday and Sunday 10:00 til 17:00

From June till September better call ahead for opening hours.

Entrance is 17 CHF or 19 CHF on the weekend

You can rent all the gear if you do not have your own. There is a little bar as well.

	Great Outdoor Activities

Thun is a great gateway to the Swiss Alps. Hiking trails are very well marked. You could find everything from strolling around town to severe mountain climbing madness, it is all there. You could take the cable car up to Stockhorn (Altitude approx. 2300m/69000ft).
If you are more into severe hiking, then you should take the train to Interlaken, then take a bus to Habkern and from there hike to Augstmatthorn. You'll have an fantastic view over Lake Brienz to Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. And you won't find any tourists there (they are all on Jungfrau). With a bit of luck you'll spot a herd of ibex there. Well, I could give you dozens of other hikes.... you won't get bored here!

Good quality hiking boots, warm jumper, sun creme (even in winter!!), water-proof jacket, enough water, especially in summer and something to eat - and a friend :-)

This is a difficult (K4) Klettersteig and only for trained and fit people. It is short (about 600m)but straight up to Gantrisch (2175m) . It has four ladders and 480 other holds. The area is very nice and you will have a good view of the surrounding area. From the parking lot you will have to hike up for a good half hour to the start. The climb itself is between 1 and 2 hours. Afterwards it will take you a good hour to hike back. There is an alternative route by a nice lake.
The climb is only in the sun till about 14:00.

You have to bring the full climbing equipment. It can be rented at the Gurnigel Berghaus.

	Climb the longest stairs in the world

If you want to climb the longest stairs in the world you can do it here: Climb up to the mountain of Niesen. It has 11 774 stairs. Start is at 693 m and goes up to 2362 meters. The fastest people have about 1 hour for it. Once a year there is an organized race. Check the link below for it. Of course you can go up to the mountain with the Funicular (Open from 1st of May to 15th of November) Monday – Sunday

Ascent
Mülenen 8.00 every 17.00
Schwandegg 8.15 30 17.15
Niesen Kulm 8.30 minutes 17.30

Descent
Niesen Kulm 8.15 every 17.45
Schwandegg 8.30 30 18.00
Mülenen 9.45 minutes 18.15

On top you will have a nice Restaurant and an awesome view over the lake of Thun and its surrounding mountains.

Take some warm cloths as you might get cold!
