This shop on the main street of Wengen will have what you need if you have forgotten something or you’re just interested in buying some good quality German or Austrian hiking boots or some warm clothing. It’s VERY close to the Mannlichen Cable Car station.
It’s a fairly large store with a large variety of selection and sizing from the looks of it.
What to buy: You can PURCHASE ski gear, hiking gear, outdoor clothing, both summer and winter, you can have your skis and boards serviced here, and you can also RENT ski gear, and SKI CLOTHING and purchase your LIFT PASSES here if you’re intention is to ski.
There is also a “state of the art” locker system where you can store your ski gear, boots and helmets if you like.
Pricing is available at the link that Ill provide, I wont go into any details about pricing because prices fluctuate year to year as does the product line.
From what I saw the selection of outdoor clothing is quite good, however, I wasn’t really in need and I didn’t really look closely at pricing.
Seemingly they carried and sold a variety of souvenir goods and trinkets also here although I didn’t look too closely at what exactly was available for sale, other than the shirts and postcards.
The only reason that I ventured in here at all was a window display containing a T-shirt that referenced the Lauterbrunnen World Cup ski race…I don’t often buy souvenir T shirts but this was one that I thought would be unique and certainly if I was going to have a T shirt from Switzerland than this would be the one for me! It was a little costly at about 29 CHF but its made of good thick quality cotton, something that I look for in a T Shirt.
The store hours are Monday to Friday 0800-1230 and then 1330-1830.
Saturdays the store hours are 0800-1830 and SUNDAYS the store is open from 0830-1800.
The rental and service section for skis and boards are open the same hours but you access from the rear door.
This is a Nationwide grocery chain..and its located just off the main square in Wengen. You can find any toiletries you might need or have forgotten or food that you might want to eat.
Its well stocked and I think the prices are cheaper for water and pop than the KIOSK connected to the train station here where they also sell odds and ends.
If you might be staying up here for an extended period of time and you're renting an apartment you can find groceries here if you are cooking for yourselves.
What to buy: I used it to purchase some bottled water and some fruit to snack on..I figured it was cheaper to purchase here than from the hotel that I was staying at..
