Jungfraubahnen-Pass makes sense !

Of course it will depend on the duration of your vacation and also on a good weather-forecast, but when you may expect a few good days, it might make sense to buy this special ticket :
Jungfraubahnen-pass is a special pre-paid train-ticket for 6 consecutive days and it is valid for the whole area of Interlaken OST to Grosse Scheidegg, First,Gridelwald, Busalp, Kl.Scheidegg,Maennlichen, Wengen,Muerren, Harder Kulm and Schynigge Platte.
You may use all of these trains and buses for free for 6 consecutive days, only for the passage from Kleine Scheidegg to Jungfraujoch you have to pay 50 sfr extra.
The Schilthorn is NOT included in that pass - you have to pay the full price there !!

The Jungfraubahnen-pass is 190 sfr for the 6 consecutive days !

At the trainststion of Wengen you may take the Wengenalp-bahn that starts in Lauterbrunnen and will take you by cog-rail-trains going up to Kleine Scheidegg and finally to Jungfraujoch !
Train-tickets in that area around Wengen are quite expensive : The ordinary ticket from Interlaken to Kl.Scheidegg is 68 sfr, to Jungfraujoch is again +80 sfr.
There is also a "Good-morning-ticket" with a reduction of 25% of the price Scheidegg-Jungfrau for the very first train in the morning !
Tourists with Jungfraubahnen-Pass, Regional-Pass Berner Oberland, Halbtax-Abo etc. pay 50 sfr for the ride from kl. Scheidegg to Jungfraujoch !
Lockers for your luggage are available at the stations :Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Kl.Scheidegg, Jungfraujoch !

In my personal experience the "Regionalpass Berner Oberland" is the better deal in many cases :
It is valid 7 (220,-sfr) or 15 days (265,-sfr) and during 3 or 5 days you may use that Regional-ticket for unlimited travels, only for Jungfraujoch you pay 50 sfr extra and for Schilthorn 30 sfr surcharge.
The tickets are for consecutive days, BUT you may choose any 3 (or 5) days of unlimited travels by yourself - you simply stamp your ticket at any trainstation into a machine on these days.
During the rest of the days you pay half of the ordinary prices.
This ticket includes also all trains and ships around Brienzersee and Thunersee, trains till Brig, Lenk i.S., Adelboden, Meiringen, Gstaad and halfprice all days to Zermatt, Luzern, Bern etc...
The Regionalpass Berner Oberland includes also Brienzer Rothorn and Stockhorn.
I had this ticket with 7 days and could save a lot of money, although I had only 3 perfect days with excellent weather.

    Train to the Top
  • Tip Rating:
  • The excellent mountain transport system takes you right up and through the mountains to the "Top of Europe".

The train from Interlaken is taken to Lauterbrunnen and then the Wengen mountain train is taken up to Wengneralp and on to to Kleine Scheidegg where you can change to the Jungfrau railway which carves its way through the Eiger up to the Jungraujoch - the highest railway station in Europe. Here on a clear day is a breathtaking alpine view and glacier world.

Road fees levied at Swiss border
My internet map had me routing around the border town of Basel, Switzerland on my way to Wengen. I was confused by this, since the road maps obviously had a main throroughfare going right through the town. Come to find out that people who want to drive on Swiss motoways must buy an annual pass for EURO40. That's right annual pass. No daily passes or weekly passes available. Yikes! Apparently, this is only levied when crossing the border on a motorway, which is why the internet map had routed me around.

***cjohnson99 says that if you rent a car in Switzerland, the pass comes along with it!***

    Trains, Cable Cars, Funiculars
As Wengen is car-free, your choice of transportation going to the other villages and towns of the Bernese Oberland is by trains, cable cars or funicular. The Swiss Pass will get you to most destinations either for free or at 25% or 50% off the price. Also you can avail of boat rides around Lake Brienz or Lake Thun with the Swiss Pass

    Kleine Sceidegg
Here's the station at Kleine Scheidegg. The train can be taken here onwards to Jungfraujoh or down to Grindelwad - the opposite valley to Wengen (not the LAuterbrunnen side but the other way)
